I'm dying to know when they're starting construction on the TMW Lounge since I'm about to start flying back and forth near weekly TMW-SYD-TMW.

Construction coming to an end shortly. Lounge opens 01 July...so I was told today, in TMW.

I departed there yesterday no sign of any works in progress.
its about time too, I have been flying in and out of there 3 out of 4 weeks of the month for the last 2 years ( I designed and now building an optical fibre cable from Moree-Narrabri-Gunnedah-Tamworth-Armidale )
I've often thought both Tam / Armidale privately owned cafes should have at least a bare minimal menu for QC members.

Good news as I'll often fly into Tamworth and then drive to Narrabri to avoid flying AeroPelician to Narrabri or Brindabelle to Moree now that Q no longer fly there, Ha Moree lounge you can't even get a cup of coffee there since the vending machine was broken into months ago.

Where is lounge going to be constructed? I haven't seen any evidence of it at all, even in recent weeks. Is it in the terminal?

Walking towards the terminal it's to the right and adjacent to the rental car booths. I guess there will be tinted windows to let some light in. Entrance will be from the secure area after security checks. ..along passsage and past the toilets. Apparently, will not be staffed. Maybe qantas card swipe will let pax and their guests in. To be seen.

There's a banner stand past security announcing that lounge is coming shortly.

Yes now that you say it, I can see were it will be, Thats why from inside the terminal there has been no visible works, still looking forward to anything other than the cafe.

And its now open!

Wonderful news...there is no mention of guests though. Will normal rules apply? The Wi-Fi will truly be useful.

OK firstly any reviews yet ...?

Q. Can you use the lounge if unattended on arrival into Tamworth as well as departure. My next trip in is the Mon 15th arriving and leaving either Thu 18th evening or Fri morning and usually just grab a coffee outa town at the west Tamworth Maccs before starting my day either to Narrabri / Moree or Armidale end.

and second Q. What no food !!! Just because its unattended you can't have the same people that's cleaning up the lounge chuck a few pies in a warmer or as VBlue have hot dogs, even some pre packaged sandwiches flown in that morning from catering.,cheese and crackers for bare minumin.

looking forward to reviews before my departure on the 18/19th.

Adam

The Tamworth Regional Lounge is open. WiFi and alcohol are 'coming soon' - possibly working on a liquor license. Range of snacks; packaged fruit cake; Tim Tams; cheese and biscuits; other nibbles; coffee pod machine; etc. Refrigerated cabinet with large range of soft drinks and space for something better. Entry by keypad with code printed on your boarding pass.
After security turn left into the departure lounge then hard right down the corridor (past the toilets).

The construction of the lounge was announced the week after locals heard Virgin was looking to recruit ground staff.

Interesting. I hope the new lounge won't deter Virgin's plans.

I doubt it, in Gladstone it was similar, both airlines are happily doing well there and the ATRs are a money maker on a leg like Tamworth to Sydney.

Let's hope the QF lounge is a harbinger to introduction of ATR service by VA.

I won't be doing my usual run to Sydney this weekend (I'm on call in Tamworth over the weekend) but I'll be able to get photos on Saturday 13th.

It will be interesting to see how they manage arrivals access - I can see them having a few issues about the rules. The ground staff aren't always good with the QFF rules - they've argued with me about my WP checked luggage entitlements, for example. I'll give it a try sometime and see how it goes.

TMW is crying out for Virgin to start services. It's a one airline town that is getting gouged by Eastern Australian Airlines (T/A QANTASLink). It's ripe for disruption by VA.
