hi there, I am flying from Brisbane to Cape Town in a week or so with Emirates. All of the travel is in J class. I am wondering if there is still some kind of tie up with Qantas and should I be linking (or can I link) these flights to my QFF.

All the travel is on EK flight numbers and planes for the return journey.

I suspect there is nothing much in terms of my QFF, just thought I would check.

Thanks in advance.

You can earn QFF Points but not SC's for most EK*EK travel.

You are eligible for some status benefits for QF travel on EK such as lounge access.

thanks. all the travel is on EK flight numbers, EK planes and tickets are purchased from EK. Can i get the points from these flights added to my QFF? If i understand your answer, I think I can get some points added to my QFF.

Yes, you'll get 14,500 QFF points each way if you add your QFF number to the booking.

^^ yeah thanks. literally just found that on the website. I'll get the travel agent to add my QFF. Thanks!

You should also get F lounge access in DXB:

Lounge Access - Australia, Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East
When travelling on a flight with a Qantas (QF) or Emirates (EK) flight number you can enjoy access to Emirates Lounges throughout Australia, Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East, for you and one guest and up to two children aged between 4 and 17 who are travelling with you on the same flight. In Dubai, you and a guest may enjoy the luxurious Emirates First Lounge. and in other airports, the Emirates Lounges.

from Frequent Flyer - Flying Qantas and Partner Airlines - Status Credits and Tier Benefits - Tier Benefits

According to the QF website QF benefits are not applicable on flights to South Africa, therefore J Lounge outbound at DXB (for DXB-CPT courtesy of J class) but F lounge on the return (DXB-BNE).

BD

well s*&#@(#@&(@ I missed that little gotchya. How odd.

I was declined access to Emirates lounge tonight in PEK. I was told One World Emerald did not matter. The local rule is only Emirates flyers could have lounge access. So much for One World status.

A few years ago when the Singapore QF lounge was shut ,Emirates allowed us entry

Hi Ausfox,

Oneworld Emerald with whom - and with whom were you flying?

Hardly surprising given they are not a member of oneworld.

If your OWE status was with QF (ie: Plat/P1) and flying EK you should have been allowed in.. if flying another OW member airline then nope and if another OW status holder, such as AA Exec Plat or BA Gold, then no, you should not receive access to the EK lounge.

feel free to blame oneworld all you like but it's got nothing to do wiht them :)

I am QFF WP and have been granted access to EK lounges in various places before when flying Qantas.

... and you were flying QF this time on a QF Code? In which case - as above - you should have been granted access. This is not within the oneworld alliance but the QF/EK partnership. I'd contact EK and request details of why you were refused in this instance and then raise it with QF. As WP I've found that QF are pretty good at following up issues; it'll be interesting to hear how you go with EK.

ok, thanks for replies. I'm a little confused reading the above.

for BNE - DXB - JNB I am on an Emirates ticket and in Business Class all the way. I would have thought that gets me into the more fancy lounge Dubai when I arrive.

it's the same on the way back from JNB - DXB - BNE ... Emirates ticket, Business Class all the way. Again, I'd have thought I can get into the fancier lounge in DXB.

If I recall correctly, the 'fancier' lounge is upstairs from the lounge I got into when I went through last time and was only Gold QFF (I am WP QFF now).
