question about how the status credits things work

As I under you need 350 to get to silver and 700 to get to gold

does that mean you need 350 to get to silver and another 350 to get to gold or do you start afresh and need 700.

Also it says you need 4 sectors on QF to attain the status... suppose I somehow get to 700 with not enough QF sectors... does that mean as soon as I travel 4 QF sectors I will 'snap' to Gold immediate?

and for non-QF discount economy (like BA Q class) it earns 25% points -- is it 25% on the status credits or 100% status credits?

Ok,m the situation is as follows: (using my year of Jan to Dec as a guide)

If, between Jan and Dec I achieve 350 SC's, then I become a silver member for the remainder of that year, plus all of the following year. The SC counter keeps on ticking though.

If, prior to December, my SC count gets up to 700 (for the entire year since January) then I become a Gold member for the remainder of that year, plus all of the following year. If I do not requalify for Gold in the year after that, I drop back to Silver (even I do not get to 300 SC's, the Silver requalification level).

As fr the 4 sectors on QF, there is anecdotal evidence that QF does not enforce this. I do not know whether this is true, as 80% of my travel is on QF anyway.

Welcome to AFF novacatz :)

For any given route, if full economy earns 10 status credits (SCs) then discount economy earns 5, business 20 and first 30.

Note that the categories of full and discount economy for SC earning are different to the categories of full and discount economy for point earning.

See QFF airline earning table for details of the specific booking classes on various partner airlines.

The first few questions have been well answered by others.

Note that BA is the only airline I am aware of that resets the count of their status measure when you achieve each level. QF does not - it remains coughulative for the membership year.

Do not confuse the earning of Qantas Frequent Flyer Points with the earning of Status Credits. For all international flights (i.e. any flight that is not an Australian domestic flight), only full Y fares earn full economy Status Credits. All other eligible economy fares earn Discount Economy Status Credits (50% of the full economy SC earning).

The fare types that are eligible for SC earning are noted in the Airline Earning Table in the Qantas Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions. But not that this table does not show the SC earning rates, just which fare types are eligible for SC earning. That table does show the Qantas Frequent Flyer Points earning rates for each fare type by carrier.

BD (and AFAIK VS also) does reset same as BA.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Must be a Brittish thing to do it that way. A little like eating Edam cheese with Christmas cake, or roast beef and Yorkshire pud.

And of course, that very British place known as Hong Kong...

CX resets their members MPC Tier counts as each level is attained.
