Before I call qantas, I wanted to check with the experts here. How many status bonus pts. do you need to accumulate before you receive the 5000 loyalty pts.? I received the pts. once since I became silver and I thought the 5000 odd status pts. I rec'd on trip to Rome would make me close.
cheers, trish

You get 5,000 loyalty points for each 450 Status credits that you earn. If you check your account online, the summary page will tell you how many more status credits you need to get the next 5,000 points.

Hi Trish, these days it is 450 SC's. Depending on which class of travel you used getting to Rome you may not have made it.
Economy return to London is 120 SC's
Business is 240 and First is 360.
So it takes quite a lot of flying to get the bonus.

You can use the points calculator on the QFF website to work out the exact SC's based on your routing.

It was much better when you could get 1 upgrade credit for 250 SC's! Ah the good old per May 2005 days.....

Actually the annoying thing was just seeing one of my (legacy) upgrade credits expire. The 5000 points is nothing compared to what an Upgrade Credit was worth.
My last 2 expire at the end of March. I'm hopeful my PER-SIN upgrade comes through on 5 March so they will be used and not expired!

On paper this is true. However, I was never really able to use them that much and had many expire, so they were really of little value.

I doubt I will ever get enough pts. for to upgrade but where does it show on your summary? cheers, trish

If you mean the loyalty bonus, it shows as a line in your 'activity summary' like a flight, so it will be date, then instead of your flight it says "Congratulations! Loyalty bonus <date>"

Log on to your Qantas Frequent FLyer account and click Your Summary on the left hand menu.

You will see you summary page; right down the bottom there will be something like this:

Loyalty Bonus

Additional Status credits required to obtain next Loyalty bonus: 235
