Have just ‘spent’ 196K QFF plus $844 in taxes etc for 2 singles MEL to LHR using Cathay to HK and then BA to LHR. Thought we were travelling Premium Economy but the small print states that CX is Economy and only BA is WTPlus. With a Qantas booking ref, CX will not accept online check in or even prebooking seats. Cannot therefore check in online with BA from HK. Have just managed to pay for 2 aisle seats on BA at $43 each (nice lady in call centre). Qantas will not refund 2 prebooked seats at $20 each as we were originally on QF9 in Economy. On checking QF site, most of the flights to UK are partly Economy so it is worth checking the small print before booking to see exactly what you are getting! The only upside is we get 2 bags on BA!

I’m surprised you chose to fly via HKG on CX/BA instead of SIN with QF. That said, not sure why CX is implementing their Y+, but it would have said if it was Y or Y+ before you confirmed the booking, so you could have changed flights.

Welcome to AFF!

Thank you for your welcome. Have been an avid reader for years but never thought to actually join! Took CX/BA as it was all there was on offer at the time. Usually fly Emirates into BHX so will be interesting!

It appears PE will be on the SYD flights first, but not sure when, as there are no seat maps yet. Sorry I can’t help other than that.
