Hi AFF,
I recently flew Cathay Pacific from Mel to HKG (CX0104) and then from HKG to ZRH (CX0383) in Economy Light. I used my QFF number and I earned 1100 and 1475 Qantas points for each flight respectively. I was expecting at least four digits by looking at the points calculator on the Qantas website. Is this the normal rate when booking with partner airlines? I am new to this world, so I think I might be missing something.

Thanks and cheers

Annoyingly, the fact you booked Economy Light is irrelevant because partner airline earning is based on the fare class, not the brand of fare. You could fly Economy Light and earn no points.

This article explains why:

I meant five digits, lol

Thanks, I just went through this and whoa! Talk about complicated.

1100 & 1475 is correct for Discount Economy per https://www.qantas.com/au/en/freque...ng-tables/partner-airline-earning-tables.html

I'm unsure why the calculator doesn't show Discount Economy (only Flexible Economy), probably just another usual Qantas IT oversight.
Its quite common that cathay discount economy lite are non earning. I have to pay extra careful attention to the booking class when booking on CX. Just told my SO to credit her next CX flight to CX instead of QF as it was non earning for QF.

Yeh its crazy with QF and partners. Wait til you see how JL and QFF interacts. Also you're pretty lucky to even be on an booking class that earns QF points in economy lite. Usually its the essential that's an earning class.

I’ve always wondered: Is it possible to credit the flight to CX while taking advantage of the QFF/OW benefits while flying CX?
Or do I have to pick between earning points and using the OW benefits.

Lounge - easy, just present QFF card
Priority Boarding - probably not
Seat Select - usually (just put in QFF, select seats, then switch to CX number)
Extra/Priority Baggage - Never tried personally, but I'd imagine you can change it later yourself or at the lounge if they/the system lets you

I was booked on CX but under VN codeshare ex SGN. Understood that as booked as codeshare no OWE benefits would be extended.
Upon check in at SGN thought I would show the WP card anyway and checked in at J counter. Very nice check in agent, added my Qantas number to the booking and it printed on the BP and said 'no points, but benefits ok' so got priority bagagge, priority boarding,re-allocated front row Y, and had blanket and water on seat - very nice to get the majority of OWE benefits on the codeshare...
