QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

I used to be able to open award seats as a Bronze (J & F seats). It did take complaining about an issue, hustle and escalating things. I would not recommend anyone doing this as its stressful for you and the other people on the line.

I must of been in really bad head space when I did this, I can't imagine doing it today.
What do you think?
I am looking for easy ways to get to and from Amman from Australia next year. Would be good to access Jordan via Paris.
I can see multiple dates in january and february with I9 on the direct PER-CDG services and also on the return BUT the lowest fare on individual one way bookings is "Business Saver"!
I've been told once already that no chance of a seat release on the one way sector- fair enough.
However, if I look at return fares , ie PER-CDG-PER, mostly, there are "Business Sale" Fares on the same flights.
I would be happy to fly PER-CDG- PER on my proposed OWA .
Has anyone had experience of persuading QFF when making a request for a business seat release for a return sector like the above where there are I9 fare classes available but no Saver seats on the individual one way sectors BUT Saver seats on exactly the same flights when flying return?
Pathetic we have gotten to this stage of accessing reward seats but .......
I am just not sure how to phrase my request (hopefully) to Hobart.
Any thoughts?

Hobart, compelling reasons, good phone rapport and negotiation skills.
It’s not a sure fire way but worth a try.

Early June ADL-DRW - N9 - requested 1x Y release - approved.

Cash fare was around 550AUD. Ended up spending 18000QF + 73AUD.

My thoughts - try for something to Asia on QF then Royal Jordanian or Oman Air from there.

Was this via Hobart?
Also congrats on whatever you did to make it happen.
First 2 attempts ( one Hobart , other not sure) did not get them to put the request thru.
Second, I explained my situation but agent did not think it applied ,However ,she did put the request thru and it came back approved.
The whole system is confusing but if you win occasionally , you can't complain.

QF26 and QF60 HND-SYD J x2 on 4/12 and 5/12 - Computer said no as P1.

Was D2I0 for most.

Requested them to be submitted for review as they all seemed really empty flights on EF, I’m guessing not many sale fares have been released yet. Will see what comes back in a few days I suppose 🤷🏼‍♀️

Unfortunately, my experience with HND routes is that you'll only get lucky 1-2 months out, even during off peak periods!

Yeah seems that way.

But did get lucky this time and got HND-SYD x2 J released after manual review for 5/12 on QF26. At least it’s come up “Confirmed” on the PNR this morning.

The early morning departure kinda sucks because we now need to work out accomodation close to HND the night before - but also some hope that Qantas may change the slot to a night slot by Nov 30 too.

Nice work! Villa Fontaine is the best option before the morning flight. Early morning onsen session, then straight to the gate!

31/3/26 MEL-HKG QF29 2xJ I0 - Computer Says No

Hi all, lately as a P I have had a lot of difficulties getting Qantas to release classic reward seats. A few months back when I wanted 2x J and there were I5 for SYD-HKG across multiple dates in Sep (not school holiday) computer said no to all.
Then recently during the North America sale, it looked like Qantas had put on additional flights SYD-YVR (from 3 times weekly to almost daily in Jan 26) and I saw I9 on 1/1/26 and I wanted 2xJ, they didn't even get back to me.
I get the SYD-YVR was peak holiday period but I didn't get the no to multiple dates SYD-HKG in September. Not happy.

Wow outrageous as a P1 I would expect better. Unfortunately you have to be really persistent and never expect a call back.

When you call Qantas sometimes you have think like they are the customer and you’re the sales person trying to get seats released 🙂.

Hopefully things get better at your end and you get some better luck on your next attempt.
