booked (on an award) on QF28 SCL-SYD

Currently looks like first two rows downstairs and upstairs are blocked - not sure why and for whom? If I called in (instead of doing online seat selection) would they give it to me? (QF Lifetime silver and AA MM Gld)

If not, then seems my choice is (currently selected) 5B (because it's a single seat and I am travelling alone) or 15 J/K upstairs - though they are next to the galley and likely noisy.

What would you recommend?

P.S. Same itinerary I am booked on QF93 MEL-LAX - but front 3 rows (mini cabin up front) are also blocked - why and for whom? Could I call in and request?

As a solo traveler - take 5B over the upper deck.

They would be blocked for FFers in a Higher tier than yours. Gold, Platinum, Platinum ONE and CL.

You can always ask but not sure if you would have any luck.

AFAIK the seats will be blocked for higher status passengers but if not taken/booked should become available at T40. (Or is it T24 - someone please correct me). I'm not sure when you're flying so can't speculate as to whether seats will be available.
Expert flyer will show their status if you create a seat alert for your flight.

I had Master FM booked into QF93 a few days ago (and QF94 a week before that). He is also only silver and the mini cabin was blocked when I tried to select seats for him. At T-80 I was successful in moving him to the mini cabin for QF93, but not on QF 94.
