Hi there

I will be flying this route in a couple of months and was wondering if any members who have flown this recently can assist.

I read somewhere that there is an issue with meals on the Dubai/Sydney leg. By that I mean that the article I read ( can't recall where I read this) suggested that due to the high cost of replenishing food stocks in Dubai, that passengers are restricted to 2 meals between Dubai and Sydney. Supposedly there are few snacks available. The article suggested that passengers bring their own on board.

As it's been some time since I have flown London/Sydney with Qantas since they opted to fly via Dubai, I was wondering if there is any truth to this article.

I will be flying Business Class if that makes any difference.

Appreciate your replies.

cheers

Yes there are two meals on QF2 between London and Sydney. This is normal for a 14 hour flight (e.g. LAX-SYD), particularly overnight. If you do not want to sleep there are plenty of snacks on offer throughout the flight. Certainly no issues of availability and no need to bring your own food.

The only difference with food on the flights via Dubai is that Qantas do not serve pork products, so no bacon or pork sausages for breakfast,

In Business Class surely there will also be a selection where you can order some small plates throughout the flight. The only issue is if all those small plates disappear quickly due to that many passengers doing the same thing (and possibly doing it often). But the two meals you get (one near the beginning, one near the end of the flight) would tide most people over I would think.

Usually the small plates you can have throughout the flight may be soup, a sandwich, cheese plate.... the self-serve bar should also include chips, chocolate and fruit.

Eating up in the lounge prior to your flight will further prevent against any hunger (yes, I am aware that this kind of "prophylaxis" should be unnecessary!)
