QF WP’s First Test Trip Report - Ashes v England, 8-10 Dec 2021

Head into the 90’s with a couple of agricultural shots. The first Aussie to get a century?

So a rollercoaster day - we were up, we fell into a dip and recovered late. Almost 200 ahead is a little disappointing considering the second wicket partnership. But tomorrow will bring yet another twist, I’m sure.

Indeed it will. And a little rain overnight, no doubt:

Held off long enough for a full day's play.

As the Mt Edelstone sits and ponders it’s short existence, the Henschke rep suggested another bottle whilst we wait. Really good price point at $102. Drinking very nicely…

Catching up late, and drooling ... fortunately, else I would have been driven into the 'cellar' (under stairs) to keep up. Well played, sir.

Well thankfully the thunderstorms stayed away until my wife had picked me up from the train station and we’d got back home. Then 4 separate torrential downpours and lightning ⚡️ strikes that scared the kids, cat and dog. Lucky we didn’t lose power.

Stinking humidity already, the cicadas are humming and it’s going to be a bad time to be fielding - however the ball will move around this morning so let’s see how long our batsmen can last.

Taylor’s this morning I believe. We asked why no Penfolds but they just don’t want to play in this space apparently.

Tough. Times and language has changed. Get used to it, unfortunately.
Yes, times have changed and cricket has evolved with the times, however batsmen are batsmen and others can call themselves batters if they prefer.

I suppose the term of bowling a maiden over has disappeared as well.

And I bowled what you would term “left arm C....man because apparently it was unique it was named after a foreigner. I didn’t mind as my nickname was a play on words anyway “Coolie” so double entrendre..... perhaps “gone over everyones head”

Heads gone over 150 and bowled out by Wood.

all out 420 plus 5

Well today is Taylors day…

Some agricultural shots chasing runs. So wickets falling and I missed getting photos of Head’s 150 and his wicket.

Australia all out 425. Now the Poms can have a relax until it’s their turn to bat.

We’ll just be having entree with a drink watching them

Of course we can use whatever we want but reality is that commentators will now use the "new" terms.
