QF website now has some fancy looking drop down menus on the homepage, where you scroll through the city names for specials.

Only thing not really special are the prices

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Yep, another (*&*&^*(^& flash function that kills my old home PC by chewing up CPU.

I can't even change the Quality setting to low so I can free up some CPU.

There was absolutely NOTHING wrong with the drop boxes; those flash things look disjointed when compared with the other page content. They now don't remember your last selection, coming up with seeming random origins - or in some cases not even a list of fares, just an advertisement "Red e-Deals -lowest domestic flight offers ...".

&#&@&*^^ forced redundancy!

Agreed! And I only get 3 options in the pull down menu now, far too much scrolling & thought process required on my part, when I need to change my location.

OK, I see nothing different with the QF website on my laptop.

Is this the calm before the storm?

I've noticed the deals section, is now in flash.. ew.. why did they have to change it?
Agreed.

For me, my home PC runs at 550Mhz with 376 Mb of RAM. It's ok for these developers with their 2+MHz PC's with a Gig+ of RAM to do these things, they generally don't experience these issues. (FWIW I am a developer and do use these things  - but am aware that most don't have these more powerful tools).

I use FireFox and to date had resolved to not use Adblock to remove the Flash panes on the QF website, even though they were affecting performance. However, these are the last straw - what were previously quite useful part of the www.qantas.com front page are no more! If Qantas had permitted the use of "right-Click" ->Quality -> Low with their .swf's it would have been ok.

So gone for me are all: http://www.qantas.com.au/flash/homeRegionContentPanel/*

Leaves a large blank area in the guts of the home page. :-|

Don't hit shift-F5 whatever you do.

The top menu changed on late Sat afternoon. Now have something called "business solutions". Utter cr@@@p. They used to have a link to the RTW fares, etc on the top line.
Another negative enhancement by QF

Why on earth did they do this? Speed is what you want, but then again if Jetstar can't handle the 10,000 seat sale properly, then QANTAS are probably going to be just as bad...

I haven't found an issue with it either

I also see nothing wrong with QF basing their site updates upon a certain level of computer performance and for that to change over time

The flash has been implemented so that Qantas can do some funky things with advertising and make their home page 'flash'.

Agree that it affects performance on some older and heavily loaded pc's as well as increasing page load times.

I realise why I haven't been striking these issues that everyone else is experiencing. I hardly visit the QF home page. I have the QFF address saved to my favourites and if I want to view airfares I just click on flights and then click on domestic or international and it also remembers my last choice.
