QF website is a nightmare

More on "default to Sydney" - I've just noticed that while the booking engine on the home page (new one) keeps my last setting, the "specials" big promo section seems to default to Sydney....
 
Chuff me! do folk still do that ? ;) Last one I asked to do a quote for me was more useless than the Qantas website...

Yes we do. 200-300,000km of flights every year, goodness knows how many hotel nights and side tours. Build a relationship with one and you get someone to do all the legwork, present the costed choices and then implement what you decide, for no additional cost .:shock: I've been with my TA for about 7 years and they know what I want before I ask for it.

But if you just walk of the street and talk to a stranger, you'll get back the same as you have invested.

First time I've seen the new site. Yes takes a while for me to load pages.

Is this the same designer as the CX site? Elements are very similar.
 
Bumping this thread with a few curent gripes.
Motivation is "`they can't fix it if you don't tell them it's broken".


(1) Logged in frequent flyer or business direct sessions time out much too quickly. It can take a long time to explore routes, dates and flights and find the best fares.
(2) Annoying chat pop-up is too frequent and there seems to be no way to opt out of it.
(3) The chat dialogue says "Hi I'm ready to chat" but that isn't true. If you click to chat you are put in a queue.
(4) If you have to restart a multi city booking after a time out, the multi city booking page doesn't render properly and there is no "search" button displayed.
(5) If you choose to modify a search it will usually default to economy and/or most flexible rather than best price.
(6) Changing one item in a search (dest, date, etc) blanks other items and forces you to reenter them.
(7) If you buy then redeem a gift voucher you're stuck with the clunky old booking interface.

5 and 6 really irritate. I like 7 as it's kinda retro!

This bugs the hell out of me!!! I only want to change one variable, not all of them!!
 
(8) who stole the 'Modify search' button this week? If you want to make a change, you have to go back two pages to make a change.
(9) why do you have to keep logging in every few minutes and between searches?
(10) the classic awards grid has grown in height on an iPad and looks silly.
 
How about being able to properly search classic awards on mobile (for partner airlines). It never seems to work for me
 
It would be great to be able to do a mixed class multi city booking eg SYD/HKG QF in Y then HKG CX LAX in J. Currently it shows availability on the website displaying the total points and taxes payable for both sectors yet it won't allow you to complete the booking and go to the payment screen.

After discussing this problem with the online help person they said I would have to do two separate bookings which makes no difference to the points required and the taxes are identical however because both flights are not on the same ticket or booking I won't be able to through check bags as travel is after 01 Sep.

I always seem to have one old booking in the list.
It makes no practical difference it's just another minor annoyance.

bit of an assumption there IMHO. Most of the time these sorts of things are driven by Marketing type areas than IT.

More likely than not some manager in marketing thought something like: Oooh it's time for a refresh/we have to keep up with the Joneses/vendor X does this and we should copy it/I read an article in Y mag that this is cool now so we should do it/lets make the site do this cool thing!" etc

then IT is tasked with it. more often that not (in my experience) requirements come in that often are not so easy to complete with ridiculous timeframes/deadlines and more often than not the internal politics cause more issues that the marketing types have to get it done despite legitimate technical issues which may have been brought up but ignored.

I'm not saying that this is happening at QF, but I've seen enough examples of this kind of thing happen.

The above statement shows you have no idea about how or why these processes happen in a business environment.
 
Another one.

If you are in "Manage my booking" and your QFF login times out, you are returned to a generic "manage your booking" screen with no possibility to log back in to your QFF account.

Same issue for me.

Also most airfare searches on the Samsung take minutes to refresh the page at each step of the way. Someone else has mentioned they have same issue.
 
Another problem: online checkin. Changing/checking seat is not as clear, especially when two+ sectors involved. After a bit of looking I found how to do it but not obvious. Then once the BP page opens there is no tab to go back to MMB or any other useful page. I finally found a work around to log out by clicking on (IIRC) the app button...

Get rid of the naff 'only x days before your flight…' and the stupod chat box.

I gave a lot of feedback after the previous enhancement and none of the problems are gone, just new ones added.

I agree re 'SYD-centricity'. Very annoying.

Try using an international QF site: often these are not enhanced as much and retain some of the better functionality.

The BA site is far better
