We have lots of points and WP status with Qantas. I don’t think how many points you are struggling to use make a difference. Platinum status with QF can help a bit where you can request a seat.
We have no status with VA and can regularly use points with them. My red status does not affect the booking and we have lots of points to use.

Says a lot about how many revenue pax VA is getting in the premium cabins (but on domestic honestly both QF and VA have few actually paid J pax - most would be upgrades, connection to/from international, yes some corporate pax and NRSA staff).. but anyway yes probably reflects VA's struggles as much as anything imo.
I think the reference was more to "few paid purely stand-alone point-to-point domestic J pax" for QF. The supposition is that QF have plenty of paid J pax that are connecting to/from an international leg - they are not paying the "domestic" J fare, but a (minor or non-existent) increment on a paid J/F international fare.I think it’s a bit of a stretch to say that QF have few paid J pax domestically.
