A Qantas J (D) Sale. How nice :)

Always dreamed of experiencing a little extra luxury on your international flight? Now's the perfect time to treat yourself with up to 30% off Business class fares to some great international destinations including Singapore, Hong Kong, Frankfurt and London!

On sale now until midnight (AEDT) 31 October 2008, these great deals are perfectly timed for the festive season, available for departures from 1 December 2008 to 26 January 2009.

Hmm $7600 was the best I could manage over Xmas - no on preferred dates though so not every day is available.

For a quick dash back to the UK in J that is a fairly reasonable fare - flying J would improve recovery and would mean less time off needed.

Here's hoping that happens every year ;)

Hmmm, they are impinging on Upgrade Season ... they normally find these seats hard to set at full price that time of year; generally op-upping a few elites on flight packed with holiday period WHY travellers instead ....

So seems like a very good business plan to me.

I think this is a great idea - sorry serfty. The ability to buy a discounted J seat at a time when I would be likely to buy one sounds great - for next year that is ;)

No need to apoligise; I rarely travel that time of year - too many other bods on Holidays :-| - forcing prices (other than J airfares it seems) up.

Does this mean increased award availability? :mrgreen:

For SYD-LHR-SYD that would be a no - for 2 adults. Only availability I could see was:

Outbound (Dec):

Y -> 6-8-9-10-23-24-25
Y+ -> 24-25

Return (Dec)

Y -> 23-24-25
Y+ -> 30

For one adult travelling there is a seat in F outbound on 9th and returning on the 3rd

Not often this far out, sometimes a week or three before a flight U/P(/Z?) seats may open on flight where the premium cabins are rather empty. (FWIW, there is very little chance of X opening).

Moreover - if Qantas can utilize undersold premium cabin space for additional WHY sales they will (and do).

Good to see they have finally worked out that we were buying the Singapore sites J and F specials over the festive season :shock:

That is a good QF price. But I think LA SYD-AKL-SYD is still better if you don't mind getting up at "Half past "Oh My God"" on th return sector.

Hi,

Normally I would agree but i'm taking mrs ejb and she is not a morning person. So for a happy wife one takes the 6pm QF.

I also just got a good J priced return flight SYD - NRT - SYD over the Christmas/NY period. I was going to be flying then anyway (in J) so the saving is a nice bonus for me. :)

...if only they could add LAX-SFO-JFK to the list.... now that would have my credit cards trembling

Do people actually think this is a good deal? I think for a 3 hour flight I would do it in WHY and save over $1,000 per person.

Getting 160 status credits for $1650 is a good deal ...;)

Actually, if I didn't require the SC's - I'd fly Emirates First (or Business) for roughly the same price, and enjoy the $200 roughly saving on transfers to/from the airports at each port.

I'd enjoy the onboard meal and service a lot more than the Qantas equivalent, plus the great entertainment on offer - plus the excellent Emirates lounges.

I still havn't done my trip BNE-AKL vv since the new Emirates Lounge opened, but have it on my radar to do.

Qantas 30% off or not has a long way to catch up the Emirates trans-tas.

Really? You consider $10/SC a good deal. To me that is a very average sort of deal. I would say 80 SCs for $400 is a good deal and 120 SCs for $500 is a much better deal. And that is without getting to the US where it is possible to get much much better SC deals.
