QF to boost Domestic fleet - 5 extra 717s & 3 Q400s

Re: Dreamliner Order Again Changed , 4 only for JQ

I haven't seen the article but this seems a bit confused. Basically what happened was they cancelled 1 order for Jetstar, reducing it from 15 to 14.

There is a second set of options for 50 aircraft, which you seem to refer to. It is quite possible that additional Jetstar aircraft will come out of this 50 (and maybe they have decided that 4 will!)

The article I'm reading right now doesn't bring up the number 4 or 46 at all, just what has already been revealed... [-]15[/-] 14 for JQ, 5 leased 717's and some Q400's.

Do they have a plan to replace those B717s with a newer jet aircraft? I'd love to see an A319 with Business and Economy expanding into previously abandoned QF markets. The Sunshine Coast for one.

There's no reason J seats can't be fitted to the 717s - in fact, the original QF 717s did have J seats up front. Airlines in other parts of the world operate 717s with J seats - HA comes to mind from my own recent experience. I was quite disappointed that the recent QF announcement of a seating overhaul for the 717 fleet did not include J seating - especially given that VA is retrofitting its E-190s to create J seats.

As I mentioned earlier I expect the same source for the last ones, ex Mexicana Click, including the last 717 ever built (55194), some have had only three years service and there are still around 20 at Victorville keeping some old QF birds company

Ah ok, guess that would be a better option.

Scott.

Typical. Keep putting passengers on tired old aircraft.

I'm not sure what aircraft you think would be better suited to short regional routes for FIFO?

I've looked at the A318, but think that might be a tad pricey compared to a 717, and the F100 is used by Alliance for the same thing...

Anyway, old maybe, tired hardly.

Any suggestions where the new Q400s may be destined for? CFS is in desparate need of an early morning flight from SYD to replace the E190 that VA withdrew some time ago.

Ha. I drove past there during the week. Didn't know it was there, just saw a bunch of tail fins off highway 395, so I turned off and had a stickybeak. Lots of metal to choose from.

I like 717s. They make you closer to nature ... Cheers

Received some emails from QF today, seems that a bunch of my D-8 flights over the next few months have been upgraded to F100s. Bonus!

When did QF get some F100s? Or more importantly when are they coming into service?

Which routes if I may ask?

Got quite a few SC runs later this year and already had an issue with one where a 717 was removed from the route... and I'll be most upset if they've added an F100 to it, after my flights were changed ;)
