QF SYD F Lounge - at what cost would you visit?

I personally would put a value of around $ 150 in the SYD FLounge, but I’m not a big drinker and mostly only have a light meal in the Lounge. The first couple of visits I tried the Spa treatments, but have not done so for 3 or 4 years, preferring to just enjoy the meal.

I really prefer the Hong Kong lounges

As mentioned on another thread, we find in SYD the crowds, long lines, and slow progress through security tiresome.

Departure from BNE is much easier and more relaxing.

I’m over Sydney on many levels. The FLounge is very nice, the service great, and the food generally good, to very good. However, having to run the gauntlet of SYD security and their heavy handed attitude, after having travelled from home to specifically exit Oz from SYD, I’m feeling very jaded. When you consider The Pier in HK and the EK first Lounge in DXB are both superior, I can suck it up departing from BNE.

The trip will still be a while off, but when the time comes will most definitely be doing a trip report.

As some would say the F lounge is just another lounge.

It's nice to visit and I have routed via SYD/MEL if the cost wasn't overly expensive but that was as much for SCs and aircraft type rather than just the lounge itself.

QF SYD Flounge is pleasant, but hardly worth spending over $100 over the BNE lounge. The Pier (business class) CX lounge is perfectly decent at HKG (as is the QF lounge there), so I wouldn't think about spending such a premium for slightly better food and ambience in a lounge.

Agree. In fact I think The Pier J has a much nicer ambience than Syd QF F. Just no restaurant, but the noodle bar almost makes up for it.

Yep. HKG is little different to SIN in terms of noise and crowds at the peak period and its only plus point over SIN is a better bar (and views I suppose but that's negated at night). Thank goodness for OneWorld.

There is no way that the SYD Flounge is worth $700/person!

Not even at $350 PP when guesting.

However ... if circumstances are that you may have 10 visits at MEL/SYD/LAX in a year, with guest then $35 pp is more like it.

Husband doesn’t like the lounge search so much. So once we land in one we stay. So I need to get it right first time. He also doesn’t use the one world advantage unless there is no specific lounge for the plane he is traveling on. One thing I haven’t been able to change.

I find the experience at the SYD FLounge quite inconsistent (typically QF!!).

Late afternoon/early evening: quite relaxed and able to easily find a seat in the dining area etc. Other times (especially morning), I've not been able to find a seat - period - let alone *enjoy* breakfast/relax.

Consequently I would not consider consistently paying any sort of fee to access any sort of service whose delivery outcome I could not predict.

I'm fussy when it comes to food so will try to get to the Wing for the buffet or the EK/Qantas lounges where time permits. Even from the furthest gates it's only a 15m-20m walk. If only short transit then I'll head to nearest lounge.

If travelling with family it's usually the EK lounge or Qantas lounge.
