Wow. I like some of these options.

It certainly gives reason to keep going (or at least still drive SOME SC earn to QF) for the huge hole between LTG and LTP which clearly they realise is a gulf akin to trying to swim the Pacific.

I'm not too far off 35k myself and I could see making an effort *somewhat* worth it depending on if they did make some sort of offer or ability to have some perks based on these milestones.

Of course we wait and see what they actually come up with, if anything. For now I am tending to go elsewhere for travel because LTP would not happen and little incentive (currently) to keep throwing SC at QF when I could take my dosh to SQ or some other carrier with better product and service for the buck. I wonder if QF has noticed trends of higher earn LTSC pax drifting away - even more so since the ridiculous LTP target was made.

Will follow with interest.

The idea of certain WP benefits at different SC intervals is an interesting one, but I'm not sure if this could extend to recognition on partner airlines unless Oneworld/EK was also onboard? (pardon the pun)

No doubt F lounge access would be last on the list - or not come until actually reaching LTP at 75k - but it got me wondering which benefits I value most/would like to see earliest. For me, it's probably something like Int F lounges > Classic award requests > Dom J lounges > Priority phone line > Express immigration/fast track > Upgrade priority > F check-in > Extra luggage allowance

It's sad that they didn't do more research before introducing their preposterous LTP level, or if they did, they didn't implement it.

Some of what is mentioned in those screenshot looks interesting. I particularly like the 'superannuation' idea. That would keep me more loyal beyond LTG. I also think that allowing a higher chance of upgrades or more bonus points makes sense, but to get to those levels of SC would be a challenge for most – and it is probably intended that way.

Offer 1 - likely relevant to only a very small section of the QFF membership and therefore unlikely to alter spending behaviour.

Offer 2 - probably quite relevant to many people as 5 years WP would seem a decent period of loyalty. However, it only relies on past behaviour so will probably only be effective for driving additional spend from those in 4th or 5th year nearing WP status and only then in cases where people likely know they'll need the banked year in the short to mid-term.

Offer 3 - Similar to offer 1 in being essentially irrelevant for the majority of members. Would it drive change from those already spending heavily with QF and *O to have reached those SC levels in the first place? Probably not.

Offer 4 - This would be the most relevant for the largest group (pretty much all QFF members) and would be easily understood. But I don't see that people would go out of their way with additional loyalty or spend as like real super, it requires long term thinking and has only a gradual effect.

Now, as a LTG member, 4 is most relevant to me but number 2 is the only one I imagine QF would implement.

It would be interesting to see how it would be implemented.. ie: a "LTG with OWE benefits? I doubt it though - would cost QF more than just defining extra Plat benefits to or on QF services/lounges etc

could get difficult to happen in reality as staff would need to have some sort of understanding I think depending again on the implementation.

Issuing things like F lounge passes would be easy enough to provide at least given they already have this ability.

My first thoughts are similar to what a couple of others have posted. It would appear to me that Qantas didn't anticipate the lack of interest in the absurd Lifetime Platinum qualification and have realised that - just as many members here said - a lot of frequent flyers would bail at the Lifetime Gold mark because there's nothing in the foreseeable future.

On the face of it, I like some of the benefits mentioned but it would certainly complicate the program even more. Would Qantas need to start creating their own special characters for footnotes? I think they've used up all the other ones.

Wow. This is good in concept.
I wonder how many people will prefer one type, then find their travel pattern or life situation suddenly changes and they would be better off with another type.

Option 3 is the least appealing to me because they wouldn't be able to offer OWE.
For someone without any trouble requalifying for WP and sometimes get to P1, option 1 would be better than 2. To get the most out of 2, it would take 30 years.
With 1, you could travel lots (65k SC), then get 5 free consecutive years if you didn't requalify.
Option 4 would take you 12k SC (ie 2k short of LTG) to get a year of WP, if they were using current rates. Compared to option 1, which is a year of WP every 10k.

I'd probably go with option 3.

Reason - I've already accumulated > 25k status credits, and QFF point rich. Something like LT benefits for upgrades or releasing award seats is very valuable.

Downside is the restriction to QF, but we've got Amex and SQ miles to fill that void.

Is there any way of finding out how many years of WP you've "served" ;)
I kept all the old cards
And besides was with Golden Wing until the collapse

Since it’s been a 4 times recycled WP UPS and downs in status with a couple of WP Comps along the way, I am far from 5 sequential years. Paying for 4 in the family and no family pooling and JASAs long gone so despite fairly active travel on points no credits for that either. QF is significantLy stacked heavily in favour of business flying both in earning credits on other people’s dime and despite spending your own money you are in effect punished if you spend it on the family

PS That’s hacking at it for 18 years and still not made 12.000 LT Credits

Well sure but we‘ve not done that. Must be another way for Qantas to tell. We were with Golden Wing too - high level but don’t remember what they are now.
