QF - sort yourself out!

Everything else about the 'fairer and simpler' changes has been very poorly handled by QF so it does not surprise me that this has been poorly handled as well. I would wait until July 1 and try again, but I doubt they will fix it until late July.

I hope QF management will have a hard look at how these changes have been so poorly implemented at every stage of the process. Unfortunately, all they will do is pat themselves on the back and blame any loss in business on VA and EY.

Very poor implementation.

It would be nice if the changes are ready on 01 July.

LOL. They haven't even told anyone what all of the are. Just that the changes are happening.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Have you done a detailed analysis of other airline ffp's when flying on partner airlines?

No, I haven't - but because of these changes I will.

To date I haven't felt the need. I have ignored a perceived opinion that QFF is poor value as overall I enjoyed the experience. That has changed in recent months.

I don't mind VA but until recently, personally, I have thought QF a better option (when the whole range of inputs/outputs is considered), but now all the short comings in the VA model are being matched by different short comings at QF. Perhaps, as you imply, QFF was overly generous in it's partner earn, but that for me just balanced out other parts of the program. That balance has slipped away.

In the last couple of months I have spent $25k on my VA branded card an $2k on the QF one, the reverse of what used to happen (at a rate of 1.25:1 and without any Amex surcharges I might add, why didn't I do it earlier!?!?).

I should also add at this point I am in Perth, having just spent $1k plus with VA on flexi fare from BNE and had a lovely flight after using one of my 4 WP complimentary upgrades. This would never have happened prior to the removal of ATA and the start of the removal of the QF shackles. But at least the QF bean counters got their wish - I didn't use the QF lounge!!

Which is a good point, so there should be a three month period from the date they actually announce ALL of the changes, with that 3 month period reset every time they tinker with the changes.

I'm fairly certain that QFF are not complying with their own terms.

I have been watching the changed and change notifications pretty closely. Aside from the increase in upgrade awards for some domestic fare classes, I think they have complied with the required notice period in all cases.

Looks like a 'computer says no' mentality.

Until Jul 1 the upgrade is indeed 96 K points as only "Y" is classed as [full] Economy.

Maybe in a fortnights time it will be rectified, so perhaps try then.

FWIW it has been many years since time of request for international upgrades had any significant (if at all) bearing on the upgrade waitlist pecking order, so waiting should not be an issue if the flight is later this year.

At least as per what is written on the website, that is for travel until July 1. As my travel is after July 1, then according to all information on the website, the amount required to upgrade is 60k.

But wouldn't a WP that requested an upgrade a month ago get the upgrade before me as a WP? Or are not all WP's created equal?

And give themselves a big fat Bonus !!

Fair enough, but how do you explain the points and SCs earn tables changing several times, but the date of notification and hence the 3 months not changing? What about partner earn tables not being published until about a week ago?

It's one thing to say, "there are changes and this is what they are.", it's quite another to say, "there are changes, but we haven't really worked them out yet and we'll just tell you the day before they come into effect assuming the 5 year olds can update the web site properly."!!!

Yes - there could be a line of argument there.

I think there would be an argument you are entitled to know your earn rates at the time of booking. The only counter to that could be if QF published a table originally that has improved since original publication. On that basis, people would be working off a 'worst case' scenario three months ago. Not sure of which tables were produced and when?

Almost certainly not these days. It is likely 'PCV' or similar rating - See this thread:

Thanks Serfty, interesting reading. The only reason I was stressed about having to wait until 1 July to request is I thought request date was important and was trying to get the best chance for an upgrade for 4 pax. Having read that I am not so stressed (WP, 1,500'sc 2/3rd through the membership year and H class tickets), if there are only 4 J seats free we should be in with a god chance!

While happier about my chances of upgrade, still doesn't change my opinion of QF!

There are? Where? Last time I looked (late last week), they still had the old partner earn tables with a link to "changes are coming".

You are probably correct. There was some hoo-ha the other week about partner earn tables showing points where it was meant to be SCs. Then I thought it had been fixed. I confess, I haven't checked recently.
