Re: QF selling more "extra legroom" Y seats - Domestic Exit & International 80A/K,71D

I said I disagreed with the change....
I know you did. I was just highlighting other missed opportunities.

All sought after seats in economy should be available complimentary to status flyers.

What annoys me with these stupid decisions is seat remains vacant until check-in and a once a year flyer ends up seated in the bulkheads/exit rows for free.

As with points, I'm thinking the worth of our LTG status is starting to decline much faster than anticipated....

Not worried about Lifetime Gold yet.

I am worried about my Platinum benefits eroding rapidly. Platinum is the new Gold.

How are your plat benefits eroding? Any status pax could select 80a/k 71d?

In fact I have seen these seats open to NB as well.

You are right.

Used to be able to get them complimentary and now anyone can get them by paying except if you are Platinum One.

How about charge everyone for those except for Platinums? No? Just Platinum Ones?

Another benefit eroded. I must be imagining things?

i pointed out out in another thread that I looked at the QF benefits table for the first time in a long time... 17 extra 'ticks' under platinum 1 over and above platinum. And platinum only has 2 ticks or something more than gold.

platinum now looks totally impotent.

Isn't P1 great for QF - the benefits make them look good and give members something to strive for, while in reality they only have to provide them to a tiny, tiny, tiny percentage of their customer base.

Yeah - I think Gold has been the sweet spot in the program for a long time. I'm sitting in a domestic business lounge right now and the offerings are the same as next door in the QP.

I value OWE .... not so much QF Plat.

I think I mentioned this when Platinum One was created a few years ago. They keep taking benefits away from Platinum and then sneakily including under Platinum One.

Platinum and Gold will be merged.

I am not going to do the flying I am doing for measly Gold status which I have already via Lifetime Gold anyway.

And I will say it. Stroking the egos of 3,000 odd regular travellers by monitoring their bookings and gifting them upgrades etc ala American Airlines is not going to increase the bottom line.

Re: QF selling more "extra legroom" Y seats - 80A/K,71D & Dom. Exit

I agree that OWE is the truly valuable aspect of WP. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of recognition given by both Finnair and Iberia when I was in Europe.
Both airlines prominently advertised their priority check in and other services as available to One World frequent flyers.

However, access to exit row seats was the main reason I preferred flying QF rather than VA in economy on domestic flights.

Now that has gone, it's tempting to fly VA and take their usual automatic allocation of row 3 on B737s and row 10 on A330s.
Row 3 on the VA B737s actually has a lot of extra legroom compared to the comparable first row of economy on the same QF aircraft.

Benefits which are available to high status frequent flyers are not "free", they are paid for by the money we spend to earn that status.
It is MUCH "fairer" to allocate the more desirable seats to loyal long term high value frequent flyers, who spend tens of thousands each year, rather than anyone who stumps up $60 for one flight.

I also agree that more and more benefits are available to the tiny minority of P1 members. Having earned over 2400 status credits last year it would be nice to see some benefits kick in at that level, rather than the small one-off incentives which are currently offered.

its now $60 and 8k points for domestic east/west. I was looking at my flights in the new year. Lots of business 10k upgrades coming for me, clearly.

John I think you under estimate the value of OWE.... And arrivals access for QF WP

I don't usually experience the Oneworld Emerald love others rave on about.

Arrivals access could be next to go. And I wouldn't be surprised if First Lounge access disappears in Australia as well.

I don't see how they could withdraw it for oneworld international services, but i guess they could remove it for JQ services.
