Z is premium economy award space. Do you mean P (First class)?

oh gawd. my absolute error!!! I apologise. I was thinking of another airline.

duh!

OK that makes sense to wonder about Z.

I would imagine Y+ seats would be assigned to status pax much like the old F cabin goes to WP's etc (who can assign) but don't know.

assume some here will no doubt book this flight and find out!

apologies again. mea culpa!

It would appear that the flight is being sold as 2 class (Y and J), but the aircraft currently scheduled to operate the flight is an older 747 with an F cabin. So presumably, some J passengers will be getting lucky.

The flight appears pretty empty at this point, but still no U availability. :(

And some Y pax wil get lucky with PE seats.

Based on seat map out of expertflyer, it looks like both directions SYD-TSV on both days to be operated by either EBC/EBD, which look like the old QF "middle seat blocked" J planes.

Seatguru doesn't seem to have that layout specced. Is there any feedback from the group on good/bad Y seats? It's looking like a very lightly loaded plane at the moment, appreciate any insight - also what the entertainment option might be like?

From here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....l-qfs-330s-get-lay-53445-183.html#post1317751 it looks like EBC/EBD are QStreaming / iPad entertainment, but that post also refers to the J "workbench" planes as other tail numbers, so now I'm confused.

Basically what I'm trying to work out is which seats to pick, and whether to BYO entertainment or not :)

EBC and EBD are equipped with Qstreaming in Y with a iPad mini supplied by QF.

In terms of best seats, row 23 is quite good as you are in the bulkhead row with 23A/B, 23J/K being the bassinet seats. The only downside is that the seats are misaligned to the window which makes it difficult to enjoy the scenery below.

Cheers for that, thanks for the info. It looks like there's been a type change (still a 332) on 1271 on Saturday, and now it's looking like the EBM/EBN type is operating on Saturday, with EBC/EBD type (ex Jetstar?) operating on Monday.

I am off to WLG, otherwise I would certainly have booked the SYD - TSV just to get to fly the 330 on that route and to earn the QF SC!

If i was chasing QF status & not near my year end , I would also. I imagine the loads will be quite light on the Sat SYD-TSV & the Mon TSV-SYD.

As the flights are direct SYD-TSV and return, they are not great SC earners - 15 SCs one way for discount Y, 60 for J. While the Y seats are cheap at $129 for red-e deals, there are no bargains in J - $1051 one way. There are cheaper ways to earn SCs.

Sadly the seat map now shows reconfigured 744 without old F. I think it's coming off QF96 LAX-MEL 02OCT

Expert flyer is still showing the F cabin?

My initial thought was that 744 was being sourced from LAX-MEL QF96, but the seat map is not the same for Friday's 96, so not sure just where that 744 is coming from. I looked for a morning 744 down from SYD(would have been fun) but couldn't find any. Nothing ex-BNE either.

Not off QF96 , but it is positioning from SYD on Sat night as QF467 at 19.30 ....we missed that one !!

Enjoy the trip and weekend . How was the load up ? I imagine very light .
Thanks! There were five or six passengers in business and in the forward economy cabin I would say the load was about 40%. Didn't wander to the aft cabin.
