QF have scheduled an A330 on SYD-TSV rotation to cater for the NRL Grand Final on Sat 5th Oct & Mon 7th Oct

Sat 3rd Oct
SYD- TSV QF1271 6.00 - 8.35
TSV-SYD QF1272 10.35 -13.10

Mon 5th Oct
SYD-TSV QF1271 12.00 - 13.35
TSV-SYD QF1272 14.35 - 18.10

Fares starting at $129 o/w .

It offers a cheap long weekend away for Sydneysiders with the early Sat departure and afternoon return on the Monday

Also , QF have scheduled a 747-400 on PER-SYD on Sun 4th Oct , QF1262. Dep PER 15.20 Arr SYD 22.20.

This is returning to SYD after doing a MEL-PER earlier in the day

If i was chasing QF status & not near my year end , I would also. I imagine the loads will be quite light on the Sat SYD-TSV & the Mon TSV-SYD.

I am off to WLG, otherwise I would certainly have booked the SYD - TSV just to get to fly the 330 on that route and to earn the QF SC!

Booked! A particularly cheap getaway indeed considering how exorbitantly expensive everything else is during the long weekend. And the A332 is a nice bonus.

Thanks for posting. :D

a 747 doing a return to Perth? And then repositioning back east?

I was hoping there would be U (J award) availability on the Sunday PER-SYD 747 flight, but there doesn't seem to be any. :(

+1 thanks from me too!
Myself and two friends will be heading up. None of us have been to TSV before, and I haven't been up that part of the country in way too long.
The plane's looking mighty empty at the moment. Be nice if it stayed lightly loaded IMO!

I was hoping for Z :( Would they operate F PER-SYD?

I didn't ask why they put on the extra flight.

There were two questions. They're both pretty simple.
First, is there a return flight with a 747 as might be expected to fly football fans back to Perth after the GF?
Second, will that aircraft be taking passengers when it repositions back to the east coast?

It would appear that the flight is being sold as 2 class (Y and J), but the aircraft currently scheduled to operate the flight is an older 747 with an F cabin. So presumably, some J passengers will be getting lucky.

The flight appears pretty empty at this point, but still no U availability. :(

Our 1105 flight from Syd to Bne this Thursday has been subbed to the A330

Based on seat map out of expertflyer, it looks like both directions SYD-TSV on both days to be operated by either EBC/EBD, which look like the old QF "middle seat blocked" J planes.

Seatguru doesn't seem to have that layout specced. Is there any feedback from the group on good/bad Y seats? It's looking like a very lightly loaded plane at the moment, appreciate any insight - also what the entertainment option might be like?

From here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....l-qfs-330s-get-lay-53445-183.html#post1317751 it looks like EBC/EBD are QStreaming / iPad entertainment, but that post also refers to the J "workbench" planes as other tail numbers, so now I'm confused.

Basically what I'm trying to work out is which seats to pick, and whether to BYO entertainment or not :)

Re the 744. It is scheduled to fly Perth fans BACK after the GF on Sunday October 4 ie: MEL-PER, then does PER-SYD arriving late, probably to operate a service early morning ex-SYD.

QF doesn't open Z on normal international revenue flights for this config, so you'd never see it domestically. Good try :)

My initial thought was that 744 was being sourced from LAX-MEL QF96, but the seat map is not the same for Friday's 96, so not sure just where that 744 is coming from. I looked for a morning 744 down from SYD(would have been fun) but couldn't find any. Nothing ex-BNE either.

re PER-MEL prior to the AFL grand final, they have an extra 330 rotation on Friday and Sat mornings that I can see.

Thanks for that.
I have no idea when football games are played.
