Interesting.
Not to me. QF just trying to get the cream without doing the hard yards.
Interesting.
If Iron Ore prices stay high and there is a growing demand for mine workers in WA, this route will be popular for a long time. There are a lot of mine workers that live OS and work in Australia- a lot of which travel from New Zealand-Aukland to Perth, then onto the Pilbara and other industry locations.
QF have no idea about growing revenue. If they did they wouldn't have been surprised by the success of this route.
The issue really is that QF is competing against NZ which has a hub operation out of AKL. Not all people live in AKL so NZ with superior NZ domestic connections, and also Pacific Island connections as well, can tap into a much larger base for its year round daily service. QF struggled as well when it had a AKL-ADL service. If the route was a success, and they are using spare aircraft anyway, why not do this over the other school holidays as well - or better, permanently?
