Am considering trying to secure 2 x EK F rdpts on 380 ex any European port back to MEL in July 2015.

But what I REALLY want to do is get comb flts that will allow stopover in DXB to spend 1 nt in Burj. Research I have done so far indicate this may not be an easy assignment hence my need to ask the advice of the learned AFF folk. Has anybody achieved this with sufficient time in DXB to actually fully experience the Burj?

Have you tried booking the two legs using multi-city? Sometimes you can get a "bonus" overnight stay that way without the points increasing.

Not my area of knowledge but to be clear are you asking for a European port that has flight timings which force and overnight transit, effectively but not technically a one day stopover of sorts?

Alternatively, how much would it cost to change such an award to have an actual stopover? Surely that would be the easier way - and avoid paying for multiple awards...? Wouldn't it just be the 3500 points + tax? QF don't charge telephone fees for premium cabin awards still IIRC.

Burj being Arabic for tower can leave your post a bit open for speculation, I presume you mean Burj Al Arab although the Burj Kahlifa also has a hotel (Armani).

No I have not tried booking anything yet - I spoke to QFF a few days ago and they suggested I call back late July to start the process - I just wanted to check to see if others may have achieved what I am seeking to do - would rather avert a mistake if I can

The quick searching I did does not throw up many midday arrivals etc so as to try for a fullish day to experience the Burj - I have no doubt somebody here will possess the info I need. Not my forte either - SQ I can sort in mins - like I secured 2 x F Saver MEL-SIN then 2 nts in SIN then 2 x R Savers SIN-CDG outward leg for next June - did that in like 5 mins - but QF / EK etc I really do not have a clue - and I would love to try EK 380 if I can.

Indeed I do - Burj Al Arab - Stay at The Most Luxury Hotel in The World - Jumeirah

That's too far out for EK redemptions.

I can see plenty of good stuff looking about a month earlier.

One example of what can be done (costs the same 192,000 points), you may have better luck playing around with different starting points.
