Qantas Profit Warning - Dropping by up to 90%

Wow, AJ is having some fun right now. Surely any future profit forecasts will be much like the Federal Surplus, a fictitious number made up to placate a large group of people.

Don't catch a falling knife! The impact of the price war with VA is yet to flow through to the balance sheet.....

By the looks of it the numbers are fictious already! QFi 'loses' $450million EBIT whilst the domestic business turns a profit of $600million EBIT

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

This will create pressure on unions to back off on their respective campaigns, readjusting their expectations and more importantly managing them. AJ is sweeping the floor as a mover and shaker. Clearing the decks before the spin offs commence. Floating a division that is making a profit is far more attractive than not restructuring a legacy carrier and relying upon its brand image with the Australian public to see it through the bad times. Also consider the psychology of the current market; negativity is the new black so milk it for what it's worth by improving the bottom line and earn that all mighty performance bonus lol. If aviation is a game of chess QFI is a pawn that's going to be sacrificed to protect 'mainline' at all costs.

Can't stand AJ or his strategy - but I think you're spot on with his strategic intent.
I also think he'll win - note this doesn't mean QF, QF customers or its shareholders will win - but AJ will.

I also find the blame on fuel prices a bit disingenious - don't we all pay a fuel levy when buying tickets?

Not perfect enough for me to consider investing in an airline. I think I can find much better investments for my hard-earned ...

I'm not sure but I think the share price is well below the true value of all the cash and equipment, nothing to stop someone pulling a Gordon Gecko and pillaging QF for asset selloff?

Only the Greens, TWU MP's & the QF sale act!

Market cap is 3.3B..., and they have been selling of assets for some time.

Total Shareholder Return (avg annual rate)
1 Year3 Year5 Year10 Year

That sounds like Nationalisation to me!

It's a great deal...they get to throw their 2bob in & try & run the company without paying a red cent. It was remiss of me not to mention The Hon, Senator Xenophobia......I think he sees himself as better than the average AJ only shorter;)

Who's got a call on the right price to get back in to QAN? I imagine that AJ and co have a few more announcements to goose the shareprice coming up so it could be good for a short term position...

As a wise investor once said:
Q. How do you get a small fortune in the airline industry?
A. Start with a large fortune.

QAN is a perfect company to demonstrate the 80/20 rule, with the top 20 owning 80%, wonder how long that will last?

Who's got a call on the right price to get back in to QAN?

It is not so much the right price, but the right time. That time to buy will be not when the end of the current strategy is in sight, but when the future strategy is in sight.
