So I've got reassement on the wheel thing as "31st Oct 2015" whilst my print activity statement is "31st Oct 2016". So does that mean I've got till 2016 to clock up 600 SC and keep gold...?
 
Yeah -the wheel thing's dates have been often inaccurate ever sine it was introduced last year ...

Not quite. You have between 1 November 2015 and 31 October 2016 to get 600 SC.
