QF & KLM Announce Codeshare

How can I find if there is business class award availability? Nothing is showing on the Qantas website. Is there another website one can use. Also how can one estimate the cost of taxes and carrier charges?

I don't think you will find any availability. As far as what we can tell from the communications, this is a codesharing arrangement with reciprocal lounge access arrangements for Flying Blue and Qantas Frequent Flyer passengers. No mention of KLM becoming an award redemption partner at this stage. To get to AMS, you will have to look at AY, EK, QR, CX or BA.

Indeed, the codeshare agreement with KLM does not extend to redeeming Qantas points.

What a shame. How about the Air France codeshare to Paris?

The QF/AF partnership also doesn't extend to redeeming points. Most QF codeshare services are the same (you also can't redeem points on OZ to ICN, VN to SGN, etc.). I believe there are a few exceptions, e.g. for Aircalin flights to NOU and TN flights to PPT/LAX.

I wouldn't be rushing to book this. I've done the continuation sector SIN-DPS a few times as its excellent value and always feel sorry for those doing the 11 hr haul. Entertainment is very limited for English only and seats beyond the front few extra legroom rows are pretty squeezy.

Hubby and I flew KLM J a few years back HKG-AMS and vv. It was an old-fashioned product at the time (cradle seats) but the planes themselves were old (747-combi) and the one of the flights was the pilot's final flight for KLM and he came down through J high-fiving the staff and pax with this huge grin on his face, it was lots of fun. The FAs were wearing aprons which said "Joost's last flight" and his face on them. It was a good flight. And they give you these cute little ceramic houses with jenever in them when you are in J. (mind you, hubby went to drink one last year and the booze must have just evaporated away as they were all dry!)

Yep agreed, done that sector a few times too. I don't like 3-4-3 777's and KLM is no exception. I'd rather continue on QF A380 via LHR.
