Qantas and KLM will codeshare between Australia and Amsterdam.

Qantas has struck a codeshare deal with Netherlands flag carrier KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

The Australian national carrier will place its code on KLM's daily flights between Singapore and Amsterdam and KLM's code will appear on Qantas international flights between Singapore and Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

Qantas Frequent Flyers will be able to earn points and status credits on the Qantas-coded flights and eligible customers will be able to access the KLM lounge in Amsterdam.

Qantas International CEO Alison Webster said the deal provided customers with more choice.

"It offers our customers another option to get to Amsterdam via our Singapore hub with more opportunities to earn status credits and Qantas Points," Webster said.

Tickets for the new codeshare services will go on sale 01 Nov, for travel from 08 Nov.

Another way to get to Europe :D Is this Qantas getting ready for a break up with EK?

More passengers for the already full Singapore Qantas Lounge… I wonder if Qantas is looking into a first class lounge for Singapore?

They’ll have to sort something out for Adelaide first or maybe they are going to push Qatar more.

I like the sound of this codeshare as I've a soft spot for KLM. My first flight ever was on a KLM stretched DC8 from Sydney back to UK to see my family again. It went in short hops via (I think from memory), Darwin, Jakarta, Karachi, Abu Dhabi, Rome, Zurich and then Amsterdam. Felt like eternity but the stops allowed a stretching of the legs. Later flights on KLM in J were good. That was when they flew into Sydney and gave J passengers the little ceramic Amsterdam houses filled with Dutch alcohol. Still have some of those, unopened, in a cupboard! Haven't flown KLM for years so can't say how they are in "modern times".

Could not agree more, we given up on leaving via ADL international some time back. Mrs and MissM have become quite used to connection out of SYD and MEL, F lounges and better carrier options.

Arrival into ADL not a problem with most carriers.

Sydney needs quite a gap due to that awful bus service though.

Whilst I agree with your comment, after a few years of travel you soon work out the fights and run the gauntlet for AM connections or just fly up the night before and stay at the Rydges and have a long breakfast in the F lounge.

Agree re Rydges. A good plan.

Given they only just renewed for 5 years I would say no.

Also you'd think that the last few code shares (KLM/AF) announced are but a drop in the ocean to what the EK partnership is worth to QF.

Can't see anyone sane choosing this over EK via DXB unless they particularly want a SIN stopover. They should also announce codesharing on KLM services from CGK, DPS, and LO SIN-WAW.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Surprised by this given the QF/EK tie up - surprised EK are happy about this and didn’t block it.

It’s more of a loose association than a tie up nowadays.

Looks to me that QF is preparing for post-EK. No coincidence they’ve signed deals with Air France and KLM when CDG and AMS are tipped to be the good options for direct services.

I suspect KLM business class will be quite friendly but that you will only be allowed to have one cookie. :)

Back to the future - these deals also existed pre-EK.

Has anyone seen a list of where/which KL flights will offer QF codeshare#'s? Can't seem to see anything on the usual booking websites.

Will the Codeshares extend to flights beyond AMS also - potentially other European destinations?

EDIT: Nevermind, I just re-read the announcement, its only codeshare flights between SIN and AMS.
