QF J class on domestic 763

I'm interested in peoples' thoughts on flying J rather than Y from Melbourne to Perth. Other than the obvious extra space, what are the other benefits (aside from FFP) from flying J?

• extra baggage allowance
• first off the aircraft
• personal IFE of you score international config 763
• better food and wine
• less people to share the lavs with (lets not go there ...)

The last time I did a points upgrade to J they served tubs of [SIZE=-1]Connoisseur vanilla bean icre cream[/SIZE]. As a bit of an ice cream junkie this was most welcome. As I had to drive from the airport to home on arrival I did not imbibe too much of the better quality wine

For me any domestic flight is short enough and time passes quickly.

I would rather use the money or the FF points saved by travelling in Y for other adventures.

Same on my last upgrade, from PER to MEL - but they ranout by the time they got to me Nevertheless I asked for, and received a mini magnum from down the back of the bus. And I didn't feel like any alcohol, as I'd already had far too much scotch on the previous sector down from BME!

Personally for me as my domestic travel is virtually nil (5% of travel) and I only fly J int'l I actually can't face a whY seat any more so I am definitely planning to either tack my domestic flights onto a DONE4 or do a points upgrade.

I really dont want to see the back of the bus any more - its either J (or F) or simongr is in a no fly zone

I think that MEL - PTH is a long enough flight to use points to upgrade if you have them to spare. Anything shorter domestically is a bit of a waste. Personally, I like to use my upgrades for International flights although, I do classify flying to NZ as 'domestic' due to the short flight times.

For a 3-4 hours flight an upgrade IMHO would only be worth it if going to Dreamtime Seats or SkyBeds. Millenium Seats simply don't cut it. So in these cases you need to be travelling on 747's, 333's or 20 J Seat 763's.

Are the Dreamtime Seats the International J non-skybed seats and the Millenium Seats the domestic J seats?

And if so, other than the IFE, I thought that these two were basically the same?

Here is a photo of Dreamtime seats on a QF 767-300.. And another showing an individual seat (2A)

better seat pitch on the Dreamtime seats. Also more width. Dreamtime config on 767 is 5 across (1x2x2) and Millennium seats are 6 across (2x2x2).

Dreamtimes have electric motor control for reclining functions, while Millennium seats are mechanical/pneumatic control.
