Hi Markis
I have read the entire thread you posted and can only see mention of people being called before the departure date and offered a paid upgrade. Nowhere in the post can I see any reference to anyone just turning up at the airport and getting the option in the lounge or check in to pay for an upgrade nor any mention of being able again to use points at check in which is what we are discussing.
Being contacted by the airline and offering the ability to use points and or cash to upgrade is not the issue here.
No one yet has put up their hand to say this has happened. People on this forum are more likely to ask for an upgrade than the average passenger...My question is, how successful has any one been requesting and receiving an upgrade on points at the Airport when checking in or at the lounge when no upgrade request has been in place already through manage my booking

It has happened to me. I was on QF81 from SYD to ADL. I asked for a points upgrade in the First Lounge and a J boarding pass was brought to me about 10 minutes later. This was about 2 weeks ago.No one yet has put up their hand to say this has happened. People on this forum are more likely to ask for an upgrade than the average passenger.
Being contacted by QF and them trying to extract more $$ for from the punter for an upgrade is not what was asked in post 1

Yes, but it is flight number 81 which is clearly excluded from ODUs in the terms and conditions. The T&Cs talk about flight numbers 1 - 399, not domestic or international legs. I was quite surprised when I got the upgrade as I didn't think it would be allowed.yes that is Domestic leg not an International Leg

They deducted the points :evil:Perhaps it is something to do with your WP1 Status. Did they deduct points or take money for the upgrade?

Purely domestic.Thats a bummer was it a leg of an International flight or a domestic leg purely?
Purely domestic.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh Ok so it wasnt an International flights as per normal rules if it was booked as a domestic leg so still no evidence of on departure upgrades on International departures at check in or Lounge with out previously registeringlol
On Departure Upgrades are not available on the domestic legs of Qantas operated international services (QF1-199).
