Does that actually work? I've never thought of doing that but it seems like a great idea. Nothing worse than someone reclining into your face on a 1 hour daytime flight. A steady stream of cold, dry air in the face would be a great deterrent.
Depends on the sensitivity of the person in front and the rate of air flow. On most flights I can bearly feel the cool air coming through the air vent. Another way to avoid recliners is to sit in a bulkhead, or row 4 on 737s, for domestic flights and bulkheads and exit rows for international flights. I have not had to worry about recliners for well over a year....

Thanks for the info. So it looks like its the 767 338s and not the newish 767 336s that's servicing the SYD-MNL-SYD sectors.
Geez, the ages of the 767 338s are getting on a bit!!

Give me an international config 767-338 over a domestic config 7670-336 for a long flight in business class any time.

As a bit of a side note, I was lucky *cough* enough to get a 336 MEL-SYD the other week. The most noticable feature I find is they simply look older and far more worn than the 338's. Also the cabin fit-out sppears to be a different style or shape or something is different. maybe the overhead bins are a different shape?? (Apart from the obviosy 2 row Y section)

Flight was uneventful in the end but the Y seat I sat in was old, worn down and lumpy and needed replacing or at the very least a refab. I wonder if thats common throughout all the 336s?

I think these will be among the first of the QF branded 763's to be retired (returned to BA?).

BA operated them for around ten years from 1990 until they went to Qantas in 2000.

Their average age 17.8 years. The Qantas 763 operational fleet average is 15.8 years.

Taking the ZX's out reduces this to 15.3 years.

Above from:
QFlyer - Unofficial Qantas Group Fleet Information

Serfty: BA operated them for around ten years from 1990 until they went to Qantas in 2000.

This is where it confused me....that's why I was asking about the 767 336ER as I was thinking that they were only 8 yrs old in that "year in which the aircraft was produced and delivered..." in 2000!!!!
