Plant based dining - vegetarian fried rice with asparagus, mushroom, zucchini, peppers and salted chilli

(can't say I recommend this one, the rice was overly seasoned with soy sauce and ended up very salty)

Agreed on the fried rice. It was pretty underwhelming. I had the laksa as well the other day, it was pretty good but slightly cold. I arrived during Qantas peak hour, and the staff looked very, very run off their feet.

I would also recommend passing on the Non-Collins. Very uninspiring.

Stopped by a few times over the past couple of weeks, the laksa is nice, but those noodles are odd - they have all the texture of waterlogged bean sprouts.

The QF2 G&T is a little too good, I've slept throughout a few flights lately that I likely wouldn't had I not indulged. I think I'll need to make myself a batch of those aperol ice cubes.

I would argue the SIN F lounge is easily the best in the QF network when it comes to service standards and quality/consistency of F&B.

I would argue it's the worst lounge overall of the four, even if it has good service.

Not that it's bad, just that I think the others are better. I thought the furnishing and layout of the SIN lounge felt very cheap.

I'm not that fond of LAX either, but SYD/MEL miles ahead of both overall.

The best of a good run of BMs to date. Guess you can rely on SIN staff to deliver on a request for an extra spicy (and citrusy) BM.
Beware the BMs in LAX. I had one a few weeks ago and I couldn’t drink it. I don’t mind a bit of spice but chunks of jalapeño took it to a new level!

It was the 2nd BM fail on my trip. On QF 11 flight over they‘d forgotten to stock BM mix. So I received a very austere tomato juice, vodka, lemon and pepper…😒

I only order BMs in the US, as IMO they are the only ones who can make it right!

(I think we have different tastes)

I agree the layout isn't great. Well the dining area is good but there's a lack of space/separation in the lounging area. Often difficult to find a seat.

Often difficult to find a seat.

This is definitely one of the QF SIN F issues - there isn't enough seating, and it's usually too close together/not private enough.

I usually dine at QF then shift to QR for showers and seating (or Emirates if flying QF)

Hint - you need to let the aperol ice 'cube' melt ... :p

(Otherwise the Gin forms a far more significant part of what you consume.)

They’re always my go to drink flying US airlines (plus I make them at home from scratch) but this particular one was like drinking Tabasco. It just wasn’t right.

There are very few seats if you dont want to dine, which are very uncomfortable and feels like sitting in the hallway while everyone walks past, for relaxation i actually prefer the business lounge

The throne seats aren’t bad if you can snag one but otherwise, dining space to seating ratio is out of whack.

The US comment was in relation to your failed attempt on QF12.

I would never attempt to order from QF, or any international airline for that matter. TBH I never order them onboard even US airlines either as it's just vodka and mix - you get much better ones in the lounge.

Had one of these on BLR-SYD QF86 ... yuck!! much prefer the ones made with the pre-mix ... the pre-mix ones felt like they had the body/substance/weight that comes with a good BM ... the mix-what-I-have-on-the-trolley ones are not up to scratch ...

chunks of jalapeño
Yumm!! 😍That'd have elevated the drink to the next level :D

OT : Does anyone know of a place that makes BMs with Jalapenos? in CBR/SYD/MEL ?

I always wanted to do this ... start @ QF and then go to QR (or EK), but I keep forgetting to ... I have a drink, then eat and get into phone calls/emails and forget that I have to try the QR ones ... someday, perhaps! Pre-CoVID I used to go QF J and then to BA lounge ...

I was flying EK but still warmly welcomed in and escorted to a couch just before the dining area. Around 4pm and each ‘zone’ had plenty of seats occupied. The lack of private seating is the biggest letdown in this lounge.

I’ve had good service in SYD and MEL in the past week or so. But the service level here is a definite step up.

Thanks to posters on this thread I had the wontons.

Superb flavours. Easily among the best dishes I’ve sampled over the years.

Then Barramundi.

Nicely cooked piece, if a little bland. Probably inevitable after the BM and the wontons. Tempranillo was average.

Finished off with fruit.

Normally I’d head to BA lounge (if eligible) or EK for a whiskey, but was pleased to be told the lounge had Glenmorangie. So stayed for a while, knowing it would be a zoo in the lounge. Most tables at the end still unoccupied. But at about 6pm that started to change so I vacated my table.

Love the cold towels to start and end the meal as well.

Headed to the EK lounge which was quite full already. Remained quiet near the entrance though. Didn’t consume anything but have to say the food didn’t look that appealing.

Anyone had experienced being denied entry before?

This was reported in the BA FlyerTalk forum:

"It happens regularly, it all depends on the time. I’ve been refused entry 3 times as an Emerald First Class passenger, each time when on the BA15 LHR-SYD. On my return no problem gaining entry when on the BA16 SYD-LHR
. "
