Re: a minor drama....QF codeshare with EK to AKL

Presumably you have been rebooked onto a Qantas service., so that shouldn't be an issue.

Being booked in First, that may be an issue. You will probably need to make a claim (original routing credit) after the event to get any missing Status Credits.

Re: a minor drama....QF codeshare with EK to AKL

will the refund the difference between first and business aswell? Have been moved to the new QF A330 service in lieu of the EK A380 service.

what is the process re the double status credit offer in claiming an ORC? This is the first time something like this is happened to me (although it was bound to at some point).

Re: a minor drama....QF codeshare with EK to AKL

The commercial policy indicates you can route via MEL or BNE if you were in First Class. So you may end up with an extra 80 SCs each way with the DSC offer.

...ticketed First Class bookings, passengers may, without fee:

Reroute via BNEAKL or MELAKL (travel on QF sectors will be in Business if there
is no First Cabin offered), or
Refund if there are no suitable options

Re: Emirates Cans A380 SYD-AKL

Wasn't part of the reason for the AKL tag to minimise parking costs? Maybe there are other changes that use that plane.

That was in the early days the reasons - but I suspect that AKL have become a little more demanding since what they were 15 years ago - well that is what I am reading into it.

I might be wrong, but I think it is EK giving a finger to AKL airport and how greedy they seem to have become in the past 3 odd years. AKL have seen a lot of growth with EK and Mainland China movements, that is pushing them to have to remote gate a number of flights and build more infrastructure to handle at INT movements.

I also read into this as a temp change until more A380 deliveries, and will see it back within 2 years after using it as a negotiating leaver with AKL management.

Re: a minor drama....QF codeshare with EK to AKL

Yep, i'd be asking for a reroute via BNE or MEL.

And who pays for the nights accommodation in MEL or BNE enroute to AKL? Can do via BNE coming back without the night, but going over is difficult.

Re: a minor drama....QF codeshare with EK to AKL

I was booked with my sister SYD-AKL-SYD in Oct (reward seats, J one way & Y the other), we asked to be re-routed from Melb for the J leg so that we could still experience the A380 + Emirates lounge. Qantas have transferred us to that flight pending an OK from Emirates, have to wait until next week apparently to hear back. For the Y leg they transferred us to an A330 flight no problem (have to return to Syd so no other option, definitely did not want to take a 737!)

QF have just refunded me the difference between the EK F and the QF J ticket - I will be chasing the ORC as well (double s/c).

I estimate this at $1500. What was QF's estimate?

Re: Emirates cancels SYD-AKL effective 17 Jul 2017

There were another 3 threads that popped up that have now been merged. Ausbt reported it and one passenger had a change to schedule.

Re: Emirates cancels SYD-AKL effective 17 Jul 2017

Ah ok. Thanks. For some reason I didn't see it on any of the main pages!

Re: Emirates Cans A380 SYD-AKL

I will enjoy the bar one last time on the trip over to AKL for the Lions tour. One good thing to come of this is there should* be better award availability on the route for oneworld partner redemptions on the QF330 which weren't available on EK. *will wait and see

Re: Emirates Cans A380 SYD-AKL

Bugger... Switched from A380 J (and bar) to 737 on first leg to AEP . Decisions, decisions - switch to next best hard product (LATAM) on the same plane I already have a seat AKL to SCL or take the extra SCs but 737?

Re: Emirates Cans A380 SYD-AKL

I think this is good news for QF flyers across the Tasman. The 737 product just doesn't cut it for J, although the flights are short so it isn't too big a deal. But half of my pretty frequent trips across or back have been on LATAM or EK this year. The QF A330 stacks up well against this.

I had no idea this change was coming but was chatting to FA Kate on EK 419 on Monday, in an almost empty J cabin(s) - i think there were 9 pax in J for the 8 FAs to attend to (it was fantastic, especially Kate). She commented it was the emptiest she had ever seen and while not surprising given heading into Winter, we were speculating that the route may be in trouble.

Re: Emirates Cans A380 SYD-AKL

Chances are that QF will upguage to A330 for 12 months, before downgrade to B737 again citing "difficult competitive environment" .....

QF/EK has to maintain capacity on trans tasman as part of the ACCC's approval to operate the JV.

Re: Emirates Cans A380 SYD-AKL

There goes my only access to the QFi SYD F lounge to AKL (at least we still have SYD- CHC for now).
Hopefully that the EK flights SYD - CHC will continue. But niggling as it is, anything can change.

Re: Emirates Cans A380 SYD-AKL

I have 6 seats booked on EK418 Syd/Akl in January on J rewards.
When I look on the Qantas site to see if there is still any availability on the A380 from either Mel or Bne, the site does not have any EK flights listed.
Guess I am going to have to call QF and see if I can have the booking changed to ex Mel or Bne instead of the current Syd as someone has done up stream.

The 737 flight I was put on left a whopping 50mins after LA800 - the plane we will join in AKL! (less than 1 1/2 hr layover).

I realised that in Dec, the A330 (QF 143) is actually leaving at a reasonable time (10:15). Managed to switch to that one. It leaves slightly earlier than EK did and LATAM flight but will be interesting to see what the soft product is like vs Jetconnect and other QFi 737 services.
