So the US airways earning table is now published Frequent Flyer - Earning Points - Fly - Airline Partners (mods please merge if another thread is dealing with this).
I notice that there is a new category (Economy upgrades) which earn SCs at Economy level. I wonder if QF will adapt this to AA YUPP/KUPP that book in P fare bucket...

That is interesting... I imagine a change to AA SC earn wont be far away. Would be surprising if they kept it different.

Thanks ... interesting ... P class is "economy upgrades #"

# Earns Points and Status credits at the Economy rate

I wonder why it classes J as "Economy Upgrade".

The new US and JJ earning charts don't have the "for travel on or after 1 July 2014" like the other airline partner pages. Maybe these are an indication of the changes for the other airlines?

Now I can't wait for QF to release UL earning table on 1st of May...Maybe QF will actually subtracts SCs from your account if you fly UL in J...

US Airways have an upgrade product whereby pax are sometimes offered an upgrade in exchange for US Dividend Miles or cash.
When this is taken up, the members booking class is changed to J (when upgrading to Business) or either P or O (when upgrading to First Class), however Points and Status credits are earned at the Y rate, only when upgrading from an eligible economy fare.

Not all airlines use their booking classes in the same way so where you might be used to seeing J as Business with most, that is not how US use their classes.

I hope this helps

No more $1/SC or anywhere close though ;)

Well, it hasn't happened yet...
Since AA YUPP/KUPP book in A and P, I guess if QF adapt the AA earning table to look like the US table this would only leave booking in the F fare bucket earning First class SCs.

For contrast, AA moves you into the X fare bucket when they give you an op-up or points upgrade. Exactly the same thing as US and their J, O and P buckets.

Makes sense, but QF never mentioned this X class on their AA earning table, so why mentioning it on US earning table?

No, X is used for 'sticker' or 'comp EXP' upgrades.

Points upgrades on AA go to A class (which is also used for discount revenue first class such as AONEx and some YUPP type fares).

Looking back to some old booking I made on US as a *G via airNZ, their 'non refundable/flexible' first fares all booked into A class.

I guess with AA being inflated by USair (well, taken over by USair but with a AA facade) these things are being closely watched.

It's also used for op-ups. I have a number of AA op-up BP's with X class on them.

I have also had some gate agents do an op-up as F (that's right, flexi) class.

Does anyone know how to work out what booking class something is going into from the US airways website?

I've found some crazy cheap first class prices on their website in the heading "First - non-refundable" but can't work out which class they book to and what the subsequent Qantas earn will be?

cheers :)

Also interested to hear the responses to this question.
