Great timing for me. I will be booking flights Sydney - London - Frankfurt - Amsterdam then home to Sydney. Will only get me to Silver but the extra baggage will be worth it as I usually travel for work and have Catalogues to bring back or Sailing so have extra gear.

Have taken advantage and booked return flights to SYD and MEL for my next two trips - so a bonus 50 SC's will help me maintain my "on track" for re-qual Gold.

Have to now work on ADL, CBR and PER flights before closing time tomorrow.

Hoping the DSCs don't take the full 6 weeks to post. Hoping to be SG before I leave the US to give me a slightly better chance of a successful upgrade request for my flight home.

Note in the T&Cs that of these flights only the both QF marketed and operated ones will get DSCs. Make sure you've factored that in.

Yep thanks, even with direct I am ok as I have flights to Brisbane and Adelaide in the next few weeks. Not really worth chasing for Gold as I doubt I would make that as I am self employed flying economy.

So im thinking if its worth me booking a SR in April 2017. My expiry is March 31. I will make SG this year. Am currently PS based in Sydney. And i already have a QP membership
I generally go on 1 maybe 2 international trips to Asia each year in Y sometimes on points. I do a few SYD - BNE to visit family
Thinking if i should book something in April as a little bit of a boost to retain SG.
I like the idea of doing SYD - BNE - CNS - BNE - SYD in J as it can be achieved in a day (ie the weekend). about $1900 with 200SC's doubled to 400 so $4.75 per SC. Not great but it can be done in a day.

Not sure if its worth it though. Following this thread is making me wanted to do it.

Not quite as good value imo as the MEL - BNE - CNS - BNE - MEL run I've booked (480 DSCs for about $2150), but that is a good run for you if you want to do it all in a day and are based in SYD. You can time it so you can visit a few of the domestic J lounges that you wouldn't normally get to access as SG when you fly Y but can when flying J.

Depending on how much you like lounges, or how many SCs you're actually after, you can look at some Trans Tasman routing (e.g. SYD-WLG-SYD) for ~$1530 AUD earning 320SC under the current promo. (booking two one way flights)
Personally for that quantum of money I would look to make a weekend of the trip (fly out Friday night, back Sunday arvo or similar)

I'd like to visit NZ but don't feel like doing that just now. For just a weekend I could go and swim somewhere and take wet bathers back on the plane but that's not ideal. So up and back on the same day suits me this time. Making a weekend of the trip would require booking accommodation which would add to the cost per SC.

Just on this - in members past experience how long do the double SCs usually take to post onto the account? I have booked SYD-HKG-TPE-HKG-SYD and will tick over to SG after SYD-HKG sector IF the double SCs post within a week - am hoping to be SG for the HKG-SYD flight as will increase my upgrade chances from whY.

While I can't comment on this particular offer, plus I doubt everyone would be the same, I had a +50% offer late last year.

Here's what my activity statement looked like:

The first batch took 2 days each, the second more like a week (but there was a public holiday in there...)

Does anyone think that Qantas would be sneaky enough to exclude trans Tasman flights from this DSC offer on the grounds that they are "operated by Jet Connect" and not Qantas?

The reason I ask is that I was having a play with the DSC calculator, which is found by clicking on the DSC offer link on the front page of the Qantas website. Mostly this works as you would expect. eg Put in SYD-MEL and it calculates double SCs, put in ADL-DXB and it reverts to normal earn as that is not a QF operated flight. But try putting in MEL-WLG or ZQN-SYD and it also reverts to normal earn.

I hope I am just being paranoid; I would be annoyed if this was the case as I have booked a couple of trans Tasman flights since the DSC offer was made.

There's no hard and fast rule. They may post early, they may post on time, they may post late. They may not even post at all, until after you have chased up the QFF Centre.

This is based on my experience on a number of double and 50% bonus SC offers that I have made use of.

Edit: An example from last year, the T&C said up to six weeks to post. It didn't happen, so once I chased it up (hardly worth it, in this case), the points posted (at almost 8 weeks)

Don't worry. Red Roo confirmed a few days ago all QF flights on QF* and JetConnect are all good for the promo

the calculator on that page is a PoS and shouldn't be relied upon for "accurate" information

so book and enjoy with confidence! :D

My comment re the posting of DSC.

as others have posted the posting times are variable from a few days to a few weeks post to longer.

My take is that if you're waiting on DSC credit to attain a higher status prior to a trip to give it reasonable time and chase with QFF to manually adjust (if possible) before the next trip to use it. If they can see the booking is eligible they should have no issue with doing this. This may not mean you'd get a physical card etc in time, but if done a few days prior to travel QF and partner systems should update in time to reflect properly (fingers crossed)

and remember that if your DSC post post an anniversary date for earn in a membership year (eg: flights on 30 May, anniversary 31 May, DSC post 8 JUN) then those DSC will still apply to this membership year (ie: ending 31 May in this example) and it will be fine.

Dumb question - I registered and booked at the same time. I got my flight confirmation slightly before I got the registration email. Is this going to cause me grief down the line - i.e. a claim I wasn't registered for the promo when the flight was booked?

I would refer you to this post further up thread:

All Qantas operated and marketed flights including Qantas flights operated by Jetconnect, Airlink, Eastern Australia, Sunstate and Network Aviation booked on the QF code are definitely eligible for this offer. I appreciate that our webchat team have offered information to the contrary, and we’ve since sent a “friendly reminder” to all our Contact Centres using this example!

To answer some of your other questions:

- As long as you’ve made the original new booking between 28 April – 04 May 2016, date changes are permitted after this time for travel until 16 April 2017
- The offer and conditions are based on the booking creation date, so this may assist with queries about using existing vouchers, credits, rebooking
- While the handy calculator is useful for most Qantas destinations, it’s may not cover all eligible routes

Hope this helps to clarify.

I doubt it is an issue very much. email can be flaky. I think you're fine. :)

bugger thought it was finishing Friday, haven't been able to get work flights booked yet, will have to book my own tomorrow.

Just need 60 SCs so I get enough to get to plat with the following trip (fingers crossed), I think MEL-ADL-MEL, flex one way and discount the other way would be the shortest and cheapest (20+10 times 2).
