A question for you seasoned WP's.
If I get the follwing when attempting to upgrade on the QF website:

Domestic Upgrade seat not available

No upgrade seat is available at this time.
Please try again later.

Can I ring the Platinum number and request an upgrade? Does this incur additional points as I am doing it over the phone?

Cheeers.

Hi subharpoon

I got the same msg yesterday trying to upgrade a DRW-MEL flight - I rang up and still got a very apologetic no - on expert flyer it shws no upgrade seats available - but also that no seats are taken in J either - I will just try again closer to the flight

The original flight was on a 737. Changed flight to a 767 & got the upgrade (more seats available).

For the online tool to work there needs to be U¹ class availability on the Domestic flight at the time the upgrade is requested.

¹ You can check this by doing a business class award search for your booked flight.

Thanks Serfty

I would not expect a phone call to make any difference. If there is not U class available, then there is no way to confirm an upgrade. You can still request an On-Departure Upgrade (ODU) at the Qantas Club lounge before the flight.

Maybe QFF would open up U class if requested in lightly sold situations?

No experience with doing so of course as I find upgrades on most domestic flights to not be of good value.
