Sorry if that wasn't clear to you - I meant more from a direct customer onboard experience perspective not the airline saving $ / engineer POV.

If that's what you really meant then perhaps you should have written that. Instead your question was if anyone cares. I was simply pointing out that yes, in fact, someone would care. Not really a problem with my understanding if you don't write what you mean.

Does anyone really care about LED lights?

Already apologized and clarified what I meant and at no point said it was a problem with your understanding.

Funnily enough was on a DJ flight to and scored a BSI jet yesterday . During the flight the lights 'went tech' for about 10 or so minutes flashing on and off and cycling through colours!!

Was funny (to me given the discussion about them here) and the captain came on an apologized for flashing a Xmas tree in front of us.

They got them working again... Phew!!! ....so I could relax to the soothing artificial coloured light that saves DJ & QF money because it's cheaper ;)

Re: Multi-million dollar Qantas upgrade - Eggplant economy and charcoal business

l'm all for the 767 interior refit. About time. Some of the 767 are in dire need of a makeover....almost all the seats l've sat in, in Y, recline on their own and still mainscreen TV...

I don't know... How about replacing those old rattlers instead? It's the same as with the oh-so awesome refit of the old 747s which is only hiding the fact that they have delayed delivery of the remaining A380s. If they REALLY wanted to up their game, then they'd replace those old 767s with the 787s coming rather than giving them all to coughstar. Only my personal opinion of course...

Yes, I agree. Replace for sure, but with very long delays at Boeing getting the 787 into production, it has had a domino effect.
JQ getting the first 787's is a bit rich in my books.

Re: Multi-million dollar Qantas upgrade - Eggplant economy and charcoal business

When JQ gets there 787s - the less good -8 model, it will give back 330s to QF, which should get rid of some 767s

Yes, I understand, but why not just let JQ keep the 330's and QF get the new 787's?

Quick question, how old are the 747's that are going through the cabin refit?

Nothing official on the ASX or Qantas.com.au website..

So basically
iPads on 767's - Which was announced ages ago
New seats covers/carpets on 737s
Talk about the 734's leaving the fleet

All pretty much old news and a few million $ will NOT put AVOD on the 737's

This is simply a mid-life upgrade for the 738's which are around 10 years old

Again, Qantas clutching at straws...

Oh and no A380 internet, because it's too expensive...

Out of interest who is providing internet on board across either the pacific or the slightly smaller north atlantic?

Because the 787-8s are too small, QF already have lots of 737s, and want to give the 787-8s to Jetstar.

Getting the A330-200s from Jetstar will be good. If only Boeing pulled their finger out and actually delivered the 787s when they were supposed to (~5 years ago) this wouldn't have been an issue :S

Re: Multi-million dollar Qantas upgrade - Eggplant economy and charcoal business

Assuming those photos on AusBT are the real prototypes, they don't actually look that bad (but you can barely see an aubergine Y seat in the background, so we'll wait until they are looked at close up).

Black seats with wood-coloured handle accent? And of course - you can still see the old Millennium seat with the same pitch (so obviously that is not changing). Funny enough - it looks a lot like Jetstar "Business" (ta da! That had to make it in there somewhere).

Does anyone think the red is missing in the cabin, or it would be no big deal?

An unfortunate side effect of keeping the 767s is the small overheads (they can barely fit most rollerboards with the short end facing out, which reduces effective space).

And couldn't they conceive a nicer wall design? That wall pattern looks like something from a high school biology textbook diagram. (If it had an Indigenous influence, apologies for infringing on sensitivities).

The prototype photos make the cabin so white. I wonder if they really are going to re-jazz up the inside so the off-white is gone.

Finally, does anyone know if the international 767s are going to be redone up (i.e. the Dreamtime seat variants)?

I so hope the BA birds are not in the 16, I don't expect they will be.

The only thing I like about the old BA birds is that they have the 2-row mini cabin at the front of Y.

A shame that they can't do this on the other 767s, because in Y there is barely a good seat to be had in Y except for exit rows (row 23 has no cut out IIRC and the aisle seats are half-wall-half-open aisle at best, with the remainder of full-bulkhead-wall seats being very little in pitch).
