I was on my way out to the airport this afternoon and heard a news report that a QF 767 from SYD landed with smoke in the coughpit. Emergency Services met the plane and ambulance officers only treated 1 pax for smoke. Here is the news article.
That aircraft has gone unserviceable (as expected) and they are trying to locate a replacement aircraft. The poor pax on QF450 (MEL/SYD) were to use that u/s aircraft, so it looks like they are stuck until the replacement aircraft is located and towed to the Gate.
The QP is a zoo, as is the CS line. QF are making announcements that there are no seats on any SYD-bound flight until 7.30pm departure; so changes may not be able to be made. They are trying to help those pax with onward connections (particularly SYD/DRW).
Lucky I'm on QF460 to SYD at 6.30pm (but also I can't get an earlier flight to SYD
). At least QF have lessened the pain by op upping me to J on my SYD/BNE flight later tonight.
