QF Complimentary Status Retention

I seem to recall having been sent a mini challenge in the past – along the lines of “only 1 month to go and you are not quite at Gold – we will give you a 50% SC bonus on flights between (insert dates)”

I am at that point now, and frankly holding off from booking Aug flights in case I see this offer. WP in the distant past, most of my flights now are the cheapest possible, and any airline, as its all community service work. And yes I miss the days when QF formally ‘loved” me more.

My question is very slightly off topic: Does QF still put out those personal challenges with bonus SC? Did they ever or am I imagining it?

Happy landings
Gary

My experience is a little different to other members. On 2 occasions I have retained status despite not getting to the threshold. About 6 years ago I was resigned to dropping to PS from SG but got a standard renewal letter and card for SG. The second time was last year and this time it was from WP to SG. Again, I (and my wife) retained our WP status with no explanation. The common event each time was that we took a major trip during the year using points. One was return to London in premium economy and business and the other was a business Oneworld explorer to Johannesburg, London, Helsinki, London and Hong Kong. In both cases we would have fallen well short of SCs and I don't think the average over previous years would have got us over the line. My theory was they gave us notional SCs for the flights we took on points or maybe they were just being generous.

We really appreciate WP status with the great lounge in Sydney and JAL first lounge in Narita with made to order sushi and premium sake!

I received a WP pack in the mail yesterday. I fully expected to lose it as I have only achieved 230 SC's. I have been WP for the past 4-5 years. My online details still don't reflect it yet.

Both my wife and 3 year old son had their membership anniversary today. Last year both were silver (my son gained it the year before and my wife the year before that) and both only earned 110 status credits in the past year. But both have been comped silver for another year.

Only reason I can think is in May we have flights booked that would have re qualified both anyway.

Remember QF's system tends to take a few days into the month to rest status - you could wel find them both at Bronze come the 5th. Just be aware :)

That's what I was thinking too except when logged on the screen that shows current status had a message along the lines of congratulations you have qualified for silver for another year. Well words to that effect anyway.

Ah, well that's more clear :) good stuff

Will miss Platinum this year ( ends 31/1/18), but have been WP for 4 years.

What's the chances of another year comp?

Probably around 1200-1500 SC's each year ( for 4 years) and only about 50 this year

Tough one.
Likely fail under the rumoured 3-yr average test given the very low number this year.

About 8yrs ago was auto renewed on 150SC but that was after two 2000+ years. I wasn't expecting it.

If you had an additional reason (eg. medical issues stopping you travelling) that might assist a manual review.
