Just hoping I can gain some clarification out of this.
We've booked a QF award on CX for CDG-HKG earlier in the year. We now want to end up in Singapore, essentially we just need to add a HKG-SIN segment with a transit in HKG.
It seemed straightforward, checked availability for HKG-SIN and it was wide open with CX and called up Qantas to add the HKG-SIN segment like we have in the past, pay the change fees and additional mileage and taxes.
The agent could see HKG-SIN on its own, but not when looking inside the PNR of the CDG-HKG, it showed all classes, revenue/non-revenue from F to Y as 0.
Apparently, CX marriage rules prevent QF from adding HKG-SIN to the CDG-HKG booking, as they need to search for CDG-SIN availability. However, since CDG-HKG is no longer availabile, they can't do anything, despite me holding a valid CDG-HKG seat.
Does the above make sense? I asked if it was possible to hold the CX CDG-HKG seat and rebook as CDG-SIN, but the agent said they can't hold the seat. After calling CX, they said marriage rules only apply if you have a ticket like SYD-HKG-LHR and try to break up SYD-HKG and HKG-LHR, generally marriage doesn't affect single segment "add-ons". Is it impossible for QF to transfer the CX award seat to a new booking and ticket it as CDG-SIN?
I'm a bit lost, since CX says one thing, QF says another, and we are trying to avoid having to pay the full mileage of HKG-SIN rather than just pay the additional mileage of CDG-SIN.
