QF Award Cancellation (JL flight to Tokyo)

Hi

Like others, I've been a long time listener and AFF has provided a lot of helpful tips! I was wondering if someone could help clarify this for me?

I booked a QF Class Award return flight for my family of 4 from SIN to Tokyo (Haneda there, Narita back) using JL. Given the recent situation in Tokyo, we are cancelling our trip. Currently, our departure is set for 17 April, which is seven days outside Qantas's waiver for cancellation. However, JL has extended its own for 30 June. Does my journey fall under QF or JL's cancellation waiver policy? (JL flight numbers, not codeshare)

I know I can cancel the booking right now and lose 5,000 pts/person, as well as my booking fee of 3,500 pts/person (JL award had to be booked over phone), but if I can get the 5,000 waived, that'll be a bonus.

Hmm I always thought that you could cancel a classic award up to 24 hours before the flight, but could be wrong.

Seeing they are waiving fare conditions I'd be asking them not to charge the cancel fee, if you're sure you're not going, I'd cancel ASAP.

EDIT: Just realised you were referring to the waiver conditions because of the situation - not the normal QF cancel policy! So I'd be suggesting that as it is a JL award seat you should be under the JL waiver conditions, and that they should not charge the cancel fee. I'm pretty sure QF will extend their waiver anyway considering the situation is still pretty bad.

Has QF completely withdrawn on the PER-NRT route? I thought their announcement following the earthquake was for a suspension for three or four months but their timetable shows no flights through the rest of the year. A skiing holiday provider I'm dealing with also said QF "no longer flies from Perth to Tokyo".
