Hmmm, interesting event just now: the whole crew just came traipsing through the lounge. They came out of a room on the upper level and headed downstairs, obviously going to the bird.

We’re delayed by 1:15 because of a tech issue and it was announced a few minutes ago that the issue was resolved and the bird was on tow to the terminal.

Go to gate. Hang around. Announcement that the bird is still tech. At least another hour to see if we’ll fly.

I have all the time in the world, but I would like to be home by Thursday as I have friends coming for dinner :D.

I’ve drawn the line for the moment, @cove.

We’re now here overnight and due to get out at 0700 tomorrow. I’m just waiting for the scrum downstairs to subside to find out what they are doing about accommodating us overnight.

The plot thickens.

I waited for the scrum at the lounge desk to subside and went to find out what is happening. Some well-meaning soul in reservations had rebooked me on BA LHR-xHKG-MEL leaving at 2130 tonight. First I’d heard of it!

But I’d rather have the night in a hotel here and ride on the 10 in the morning! Very cool under pressure Matt downstairs is attending to it.

There is some uncertainty whether the B787 will go on to MEL, so it may mean a change to a dom flight.

Of course, I was only playing FF games going to MEL and back again the next day. I guess if they offer me original routing credits, I could bale out in PER. But how to guarantee that could be problematic.

Anyone have any experiences or thoughts to relate?

The F & B plot thickens, too.

I decide to have dinner. S & P squid is also on the dinner menu.

But the kicker was the drink. I ask for Champagne. Server goes out to the back room and comes back with a glass only (nb. not a bottle). Hmmm, seems strange.

Another guy fronts the bar and asks for “Champagne”. Gets served the Croser. He doesn’t bat an eyelid, so it seems clear bubbly to him is ‘Champagne’.

OK, but how did she distinguish between him and me is what is going through my mind.

It all seems rather complicated...

JohnM it will be raining compo for you.....don’t stop the champagne.....I did thinking it contributes to jet lag....but it makes no difference.

I found this earlier this year. Your earlier staff member may not have discriminated, but at change of shift advised the new staff member of you getting champagne. I had to specifically request it the first time, but after that it was automatic.

I figured it must have been something like that. It seems very complicated for the staff.

It's not a bad thing that Sparkling and champagne taste the same. If you're buying your own you could save a lot of money instead of passing it on down the drain. ;)

In London I drink Kronenberg or Peroni beer as the others are pretty ordinary. In Perth I consider Rogers beer undrinkable. Crown , Cascade and or Hahn are ok for me.
In the US I am ok with Bud and Coors.
We just booked our flights in SQ Suites for the test cricket so no 787 until we do a QF run to the US.
