QF A380 J Row 13

I actually enjoyed the J experience more than F tbh. The closet in A and the bedding drawer were being opened every few minutes (or so it felt like) whereas J seemed a lot quieter.

My F experiences are probably quite limited compared to most here, but even my 1A experiences have been better than J. Maybe I was lucky.

That's because all the J pax were downstairs using the F dunnies.

Seems you had been cross pollinated from the other thread !

Serious, the OP now has to consider the benefits of a window locker (13 A/K) vs unimpeded aisle access (13 E/F).

There, the views differ.

Shared dinner in F ?

There might be a recent thread on that somewhere.

unimpeded aisle access - For rushing first to dunny to change into Jammies, Windows are for Wusses, No one climbing over you, run to exit when plane crashes, dont need window locker. easy access to overhead locker. E/F for me please. Unless QF is nice enough to give me 12, but the last time I got 12 the seat was bad and QF customer care compensated me some FF points......

Unless the aisle occupant is seven feet or more tall and has their seat reclined, then there is no issue in accessing the aisle from the A or K seats - you can simply walk around; no climbing needed.

I'm a convert - for Qantas 388 in business, it's window with side stowage for me.

I had 12E preallocated for over six months before the flight but received the beep on boarding. I had a millisecond or six of hope for F but was instead presented with a BP for 13A ... I complained but was told business was full and 12E was inoperative (it did stay vacant for the entire flight).

½ a day later I departed the aircraft with a new perspective.

My recent trip on QF11 I was beeped too at gate when boarding pass presented. F flashed before my eyes for less than a millisecond too but I slammed back to reality when the gate agent said she had to scan my passport (I connected from another airport so My passport was not scanned by qantas earlier.

Off to DXB on the A380 in a few days time. My options are 12J, 13B or 16F , which one?

Really got to disagree strongly with this. I'm 5' 11" and when I am fully reclined my feet are touching the seat in front, so if I was in a B or J seat the person in A or K would be clmbing over me. Admittedly I have only flown 17 sectors on QF J on the A380 so might be incorrect.

12J - stay away from the sunset.

... but keep your eye out - there's likely to be more seats in Emerald City vacate, perhaps with upgrade perhaps with the utilisation of ticket flexibility.

My thoughts on the better seats are upthread, but I'd be looking for 12/13K.

Maybe you sleep with your posterior further down.

In any case I personally have had no issue at 183cm in accessing the aisle from a window seat in a 388 when the aisle occupant is prone and that is my preference.

YMMV ...

It is what stops me from selecting an A or K seat, which would certainly be my preference. Not just the way I sleep, the foot rest when fully extended is about an inch away from the seat in front when the seat is fully extended. I have four sectors in June. and another four in October so will get a photograph of the fully extended seat. (Unless the P1 team rescues me!!) As an aside row 11 is even worse because the seats extend into a recess. I watched a rather unfortunate "fall" on Monday.

I love A/K seats don't find them a problem to access the aisle and love the side storage. After a brief flirtation with the middle seats I am going back to 11A for this weekend's MEL-LHR.
Unless of course I end up downstairs ;)

I have no doubt you will be downstairs again.....have you put a points request or are you just hopeful?

A mate just hit P1 and has been upgrade 2 for 2 on Emirates code share

But managed to get 11E which I think is even better

Just be a little wary of 11E

You get the light from the mini bar and the lounge at certain times through the night.

My general rule is EF on a day flight and AK on a night flight

12 preference, 13 next best

Hmm ok will shuffle back. I'm not tall, won't be bothered by the person next to me.

Just a note on dining for 2 in F on a QF A380. I've flown 9 sectors in the past 2 years with accompanying friends or colleagues in J or Y, and every flight sector I've had no problems in requesting someone join me at meal service for a "business meeting". Just be nice and respectful to the CSM and smile hopefully when you ask I'm sure it will be ok. Having said that, I've never been in a full F cabin, so if catering is a problem, they may say no. As for J, pretty much any seat in Row 12 or 13 is better than the main J cabin. Everyone has their preference, but I prefer an E or F seat.
