QF A380 back in service from January 11

Is free wifi a thing on International Flights ? I'd want that if they were not going to offer IFE.
QF's A380 (and 787) do not have wifi.

Back, way back, like near 10 years ago iirc there was a wifi trial installed on a/some 380's (I used it in F on a flight via a free coupon) but it was slow, horrible and very very expensive (even compared to other services at the time). Obviously the trial went nowhere.

So there is no wifi.

No Qantas reportedly signed a contract for usage of Viasat-3 which is a yet to be launched three satellite constellation (that will reportedly have similar speeds to the domestic NBN satellites - so it should at least be decent).

Two of these launches are now scheduled for 2022. First Americas satellite with SpaceX at end of April, second APAC with United Launch Alliance near end-2022 and third EMEA with arianespace seemingly in early 2023 on a new Ariane64 rocket.

I was having a lazy day at home and watched it take off at 8:45pm LA time. There was a live YouTube stream from a poster called LA Flights. Was super impressive.
Seeing your post I had a look and there seems to be a couple of channels covering live spotting at LAX.

What surprised me though is a channel that is taking ADSB data and animating it.

Never seen that before.
Ran FR24 in parallel to compare and the utubers are about 30 seconds behind.

Just checked in for QF11 and am in the SYD F lounge. Have been unable to get a seat in the F cabin - been told both by the checkin staff and lounge staff no one is sitting there. The cabin with the front 3 rows will have to do for me.

Again, we were told there was no entertainment and were given 2 $25 vouchers and told they were to buy books to read. Will give them a go before I board but they appear to be food vouchers.

I think you may find that the vouchers are to help whilst on board, and compensation will follow after the flight (i.e points, $ etc).
Ok, my apologies then.
I do hope decent compensation is forthcoming and interested to see what it is

You will probably find anecdotal reports of compensation on here somewhere.

My experience from 2014 was 3000 points for PER-MEL with non-functioning IFE.

Seat map shows nearly all seat occupied

On a transcon flight some of the IFE ceased to function in a few rows. From memory we could select 10k QFF points (or perhaps it was 5k?), J lounge pass or some third option which I cannot recall.

I was SG at the time so grabbed the domestic J lounge pass.
