Even on BA9 or QF2 I don't have dinner or breakfast, have take away pad thai at the airport and breakfast at Coogee

Yes, I do like a hot breakfast... seem to be able to get one without any trouble on domestic J so don't understand why it can't be done out of SIN or HKG coming to Oz.
Looks very penny-pinching on QF's behalf
Last time I did a PER-east coast red eye in J we got biscuits for breakfast and I'm pretty sure Y got nothing. It was a hot supper then a wake-up snack.
Sure, the flight's shorter but the concept is the same as over night from Asia. Flights on which you get a hot breakfast domestically are ones that have left that morning.

I spend a fair amount of time doing red eye flights around Asia. For Qantas legs, that would be NRT-SYD, SYD-NRT, HKG-SYD, SYD-HKG, and SIN-SYD. I typically head out from meetings in one country and in to meetings the next morning in another. The amount of rest time on a flight is pretty important, and the reason that I fly in J for these sectors. I have flown in A332, A333, and B744 on these trips, and always had a continental breakfast served irrespective of type in the last few years.

I actually did QF6 last night. We had a fast flight time, and it was a full flight, so meal services take longer. if you look at this from a body clock point of view, the dinner service started at 8:30pm and ran for almost an hour. To fit the breakfast service in before landing, it started at 1:50am (Singapore time). We landed right at 5am Sydney time.

A hot breakfast on the ground is always going to taste better, especially if I have had a few hours of rest. I would actually prefer an arrival lounge so I could shower and have something proper to eat.

I will also add, that looking around the typical J cabin, none of the passengers seem undernourished. (myself included)

it is all well and good if you like continental breakfast in air, or you have time to eat at the airport

but for the rest of us, id like to wake up, clean myself up, change out of pjs, and have a HOT meal to start my day...i usually get out of the airport as soon as i humanly can so i wouldnt care if i can get a hot meal at the airport.

I believe it's to do with "markets". AFAIK, all the QF ex HKG redeyes simply serve a continental breakfast in business/economy.

Out of Singapore to Oz it may be different.

SIN-BNE in J is always continental breakfast. It is only rarely that we get a hot breakfast in J on QF longhaul. And they make you order the night before.Sorry but i often dont know what I'll feel like eating the night before.Doesn't happen on any other airline i fly on.

Correct - this is also a supper service

Do you really need 2 hot meals on a 6 1/2 hour flight? There would be less than 3 hours between services. I personally think there is too much service on such a short flight. Most people don't eat what is already on offer. QF10 (and QF6 as it is a similar time) has the highest number of do not disturbs ticked on the breakfast card.

I often end up leaving most of what i ordered for breakfast as I either do not feel like it now,it's poor quality and invariably the toast is cold.

Hi, I have done QF108 JFK to LAX on the A330 that becomes QF26.
service was good and seats very comfortable.
Apart from knowing it was an A330 you don't notice to much difference, seating is 2-2-2.
Being a smaller aircraft it has a more intimate feel.
Still prefer the A380 though as I like to walk around a bit.....go to the lounge etc

I find continental breakfast pointless and find it very frustrating when there is no hot breakfast. If an airline offers hot breakfast they have my business.I don't have time to find hot breakfast when I arrive.

i agree about the hot breakfast... I wonder why they can't offer a single tray meal service... same as domestic... with service commencing 40-50 minutes out? (they serve a full hot in 55 mins flying time MEL-SYD).

Personal opinion but if we take the QF6 above which arrived at 5AM SYD time. The pax are woken up at a bit before 4 for the hot breakfast. You are then out of the airport at lets say 5.30AM. What time doesnyour meeting start if you don't have time to find a breakfast somewhere? As stated personal opinion from someone who likes to sleep as long as possible to be able to get through the day :)

I agree about wanting to sleep longer... but SQ has had the 'supper or breakfast option' around for a long time. I was on one of those flights recently and they managed to serve me dinner while my seatmate (on the aisle) slept soundly, and they served him breakfast while I slept. I only woke up 30 mins before landing with the hot towel and coffee I had pre ordered.

But then QF22 from NRT arrives in SYD at 0700.Even here in Tassie I am out of bed before 0600.i would enjoy(even though I dont need) a hot breakfast.

Good point, definitely room for improvement for QF in this case.
