You arrive at TBIT and head to immigration where you queue up. If you are running late, look for AA staff who may be able to give you a fast track.

After immigration, you collect your luggage and pass customs. After passing customs you head up, and redeposit your luggage. Look for the signs indicating QF107 or transit passengers.

Thanks! I've just tried to OLCI and it won't let me, says I have to do it at the airport tomorrow :(

Didn't want to start a new thread for this, but I am doing QF93 MEL-LAX and then connecting to QF107 LAX-JFK on Tuesday.
Looks like QF107 departs from TBIT where QF93 arrives - do I have to go through security screening again? As an SG is it the normal QF/BA J Lounge that I can use? Do I have to collect my bag and drop it off again or can I get it checked through to JFK?

Have you completed all the necessary APP info such as passport details plus done your ESTA visa. Some of these mandatory fields may be incomplete thus not allowing you to print out your boarding passes.

On arrival at TBIT there is also an "express connections" queue which we saw people running frantically toward for their QF107 connecting flight after the QF93 arrived late in LAX.

Thanks OBB, yes the API info is complete, when I go to "confirm flights" (ie after step 2 prior to the select seats page) it comes up with "We are unable to process your check-in request at this time. Try again later or proceed to the airport to check in. [ER100]"

I rang earlier today and they said there may have been a "delay in the system" (I rang about T-23hours and 40mins) and to try later in the afternoon, which I have just done again, or just do normal Check-in at the airport tomorrow morning. Hopefully someone doesn't snag my 71D :( I asked the lady and she said no one will take my assigned seat however seats are not confirmed until check-in. I then asked if CL can override it even though I have made a pre-selection and she said yes.
It could be worse I guess!

I'm wondering what kind of "delay" she is referring to even though it lets me start, but not finish, my OLCI...

IMO the majority of CL aren't anywhere near as savvy as lot of people on AFF when it comes to good seats like 71D, however I'd still get to the airport in plenty of time eg 2 hours prior to get that other issue sorted.

You didn't have an upgrade request in by any chance did you?

Nope, no upgrade request - just checked again and selected the request an upgrade link in MMB to look at the status and it said I wasn't able to (O class fare)

So I got to the airport and on check-in enquired why I wasn't able to do it online. Still got my seat (the tray table for 69D is good for a footrest too btw). It was late upon arrival into LAX and there were staff giving out orange express immigration passes for those connecting onto QF107. They didn't take it off me so I guess I may still be able to use it next time?

Who gives out the orange express immigration cards - the F/A's onboard the flight or is it ground staff on arrival?

Ground staff on arrival shouting out the flight numbers to various connecting flights were handing out the passes. IIRC the CSM made an announcement advising connection details just prior to/after landing. At the time immigration wasn't busy at all (esp with me getting out last) so the express line was just as long or even longer than the normal line.
