QF 015 Brisbane to LAX 16 June 2009

can anyone tell me what aircraft will operate QF 015 Brisbane to LAX on 16 June 2009. It is scheduled as a 2 class plane but friends who left on the flight on 13 June 2009 where in a plane with PE.

Qantas has a plane in mind for the service, but the actual plane flying it might change.

I don't have access to those particular details, but looking at the seat map for the flight it is a standard 2 class 747-400 plane as per this seatmap:

So no Premium Economy or First seating.

My friends left on the flight on Saturday and the plane had premium economy which supports what I found. But everything else seems to indicate a 2 class plane.

I'm booked in for QF15 BNE > LAX on 13/10 - I'm in row 35 - What is the likelihood of being bumped to PE, or will I be demoted back?

Qantas has a number of 747-400's in their fleet configured in three ways (at the moment)
First, Business, Economy.
First, Business, Premium Economy, Economy.
Business, Economy.

In the near future they will be adding a config of:
Business, Premium Economy, Economy - for the QF15 route.

Qantas sometimes uses planes that aren't Business,Economy on the Brisbane-Los Angeles route. These substitutions are rather frequent, but depend on various factors such as plane maintenance schedules, whether planes are out of position (eg delayed somewhere else) and similar factors.

IF you already have a booking for your flights, plug the reference and you surname into www.checkmytrip.com .

Once 'logged' into C/M/T look to the bottom of the "your flight selection" box for:

Click the "[+]view details" and the window will expand and you may see any seat pre-selection there. If you do see a seat number, click that/those and you may get a seat map.

From there, compare with the configurations listed on http://www.qantas.com.au/info/flying/inTheAir/ourAircraft/seatMap744 and you may be able to correlate.

When selling Premium Economy on routes with no first class such as BNE-LAX, Qantas may operate a 2-class aircraft and seat PE customers in Business Class seats. So may still be a 2-class aircraft even if sold as a 3-class (Business, Premium, Economy) service.

At this stage, QF15 on 16/6 is a 2-class aircraft, so no PE seats onboard.

Of course, there is a chance this may change - which at the moment, is not unlikely.

Did you happen to note the aircraft rego? I didn't think any of the old 2-class aircraft had been changed yet to the planned 56J/39W/275Y config.

From my research, it would seem that QF15 on 13th June BNE-LAX was operated by VH-OJU which is actually a 4-class configured aircraft with 14F/50J/32W/255Y. So while it did have PE seats, it also has F seats in zone A for some lucky J passengers to enjoy.

As far as I know, none of the old 2-class 744s have yet been reconfigured for PE seats.

I apologize for my previous post, I know there was Business, Premium Economy and Economy service but as per my memory the aircraft rego you mentioned I think is correct. So must of been the case of Business Class enjoying F class seats. I know they were short FA's up the back as the service took about 3 1/2 hours to complete and QF must of used some of Y clas FA's for the extra pax/cabin up front.
I was the last one to be offered food and only to be told they had run out of everything including the tray. They put something very small together from Business class which I must say was very disappointing. Small leaf salad, 1 cold bread roll and couple pieces of chicken thigh with a very small portion of rice. There was way more food on the economy class tray. I was still hungry after finishing. Funny thing is they made such a big deal and that it was my lucky day that this had happened. I think not!

QF016: No PE seats on 180909

Thought I would add that I have just arrived on QF16 LAX - BNE (18/09/09). I had purchased a PE fare and was actually upgraded to Business upstairs. As far as I could see there were no PE seats in the aircraft, only Business.

I spoke to a friend of mine who flew MEL - LAX last week and they travelled on PE fares and were seated in Skybeds but served Economy meals.

Has anyone else had similar experiences or insights.
