Hello,
Husband and I aren't members, lifetime member of Ansett!!
We are flying to Venice on Nov. 7 but will have at least a 6 hour wait at Tullamarine before our midnight flight. Our daughter, a gold member, has given us a comp. pass to the lounge but that means one of us (husband) will have a long, tiring wait! Would anyone be prepared to part with a comp. pass for an appropriate fee? As we don't fly much these days membership seems very expensive for a once off use of the lounge. Hoping someone has a card sitting in their wallet!
Kind Regards, Meg

Thanks Wiz, I'll follow those cards on ebay, they didn't have a valid until end of .........
We wouldn't have a problem visiting the lounge, a very presentable couple if I may say so.
Thanks again, Meg

Perhaps post further details about when you will be there, and someone might be able to take you in

will the QP be open that time?

if it is i would just ask someone to take you in.

Or join the QC - or upgrade to business - or wait in the public areas like 99 %of others.

Very true Odoherty....and it's mainly because of all the corporates who get in on the cheap.

Agreed. The corporate rates are disgustingly cheap... too cheap IMHO

Look, I hope the lady and her husband get into the QP, but it seems to me that if you're flying off to Venice for a bit of R & R (and it sounds like they're retired "we don't travel much") why not just relax, go to the bar, chill out.

I mean the lady has just joined FF.com - and 2nd post is about comps to the QP.

The whole idea of the QP is that it offers those who want to pay (through membership, flight class) or those who earn the priveledge, something a little better than a bum-numbing seat and lining up for a coffee in the terminal.

I know it sounds harsh, but I don't really care. I work hard and have to pay for most of the extras I get.

I mostly agree with your sentiments, but really don't see how it can be stopped...if we live in free market capitalism, and there's a buyer and a seller, we can't complain when a price is agreed to. its simply being achieved by ebay. If a WP wanted to stand outside the QP and auction off their complimentary guest entry, how would you stop them?

Its analogy would be the Ashes Tickets being sold on ebay..supply and demand, its what determines how our society operates.

C'mon share it with all of us ... there's no secrets among friends ... and we're all friends here ... right?

Nothing exciting. I have a "Complimentary Invitation" from my Silver requalification. That information may be of interest to the OP. Any further discussions should remain in PMs, since I'm not 100% confident in the effectiveness of this CONTROL-supplied Cone of Silence.

I actually dont see the value in complimentary QC invites except for long haul. Admittedly its nice to chill and sip a couple of bubbles in peace before a long flight - but the real benefit to me is the break in the travel when you are tired and grumpy and a shower is useful. To do it properly you would need 8 QC invites for two people flying return to UK...

Note that these can be purchased on ebay, your risk:

***2 BUSINESS CLASS LOUNGE INVITATIONS (QANTAS CLUB)***
.

At AUD$100 for two, with any more than the 8 visits referred to above (in a year), QP membership starts to be more cost effective; more so in subsequent years.

Not sure on the validity of this comment:

You do not have to be flying with Qantas to use these invitations. You can fly with any airline and proceed to the Qantas Business Class Club Lounge and present your invitation to be admitted.

I thought you had to be travelling oneworld to use the QP? You have to be travelling oneworld to use the QP as a QF SG. If its different for QP then that makes it interesting for me who has a suspended QP membership and QF SG.

The QP invitations ( as given to Silver members) are different. These allow the bearer to visit a QP once regardless of whether travelling or not

Ahh - better not give away that invite I have then - in case I am travelling on Virgin atlantic some time soon ;) Mind you that will be J class so I should get some form of lounge access.... I would hope...

Word of warning.

These passes sold on ebay look awful like to me the QC 'guest passes' that are now useless AFAIK.

Even if undated they are not valid anywhere.

Hope no-one just paid over $A100 for 2 of those turkeys. :)
