Qatar points and status credits to Velocity

So last week I flew business from MEL - LHR with stopover in Doha. I am QR Platinum and Velocity Platinum too, but used my Velocity number in the booking. Doha layover was the usual 3 hours. Booked on a QAR flight number as Virgin were not showing very many options at all. It was booked about a month prior to travel

Checking points in Velocity and I see the following:

Mel - Doha - nothing has come in yet one week later and I know they have two weeks so interesting to see when these land.

Doha - LHR, the shorter leg, I received 4,860 points and 120 status credits. I find it amusing that I get a decent number of status credits but so little points - to the extent that I see a trip I made in October, from MEL-BNE in economy class awarded me 4,104 points. A two hour economy class ticket domestic nets me almost as many points as a 6 hour business class trip international.

This just seems unusual as when I did these level of trips i the past with Qantas the number of points would be substantially higher. Or it is me and the new world?

There are a couple of reasons for this:
1) When flying domestically on Virgin Australia, your points earning is tied directly to how much you paid for the ticket.
2) While the QR flight credits based on distance, it will be lower than had you been on a VA flight number

Both of these influence what you are seeing. Certainly, if you were to credit the QR flight to QF you'd get lower points than a QF flight would yield.

I have no idea what you're on about but it sounds like a complicated situation.

Interestingly, the Velocity points and status credits for the first flight (Mel - Doha) have still now shown up in my account 14 days later. When I go into 'claim missing miles' on Virgin's page, you have to choose the airline. Guess what airline does not show up in the list... This will be fun claiming the miles and SC's

Apparently there is an issue with points being accrued from Qatar Airways at the moment and they are on hold which is why the option to claim missing points for Qatar is not there!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Is there a source for this with further information? I am looking at booking a QR fare but I really need it to earn status credits.

Sorry, I was responding to the immediate prior post. I wanted to know whether there is info about any systemic problem with crediting QR flights to Velocity.
There is a current issue with the system - you will still earn points and s/c's but the systems are apparently not talking as well as should do. My flight to LHR two weeks ago had the second leg points and s/c credited but nothing else. So simple answer - you will accrue points and s/c, but who knows when they will appear at the moment

OK. Thanks.

I am trying to book on Qatar stopover website so that I can get a Qatar subsidized stopover on the return leg but can only seem to add a QR FF number to the booking process but I want to add my VA FF number. Any ideas?

You can add it/change it online after the booking's been made. It's worked for me recently and the points came through to VA. But the Qatar system is still acting a bit weird - I think at online checkin VA FF isn't an FF program option but it still came through at the end. Had a 2nd flight recently so will see if that works out....

@flyingmachine How did your second flight go? Did you get the VA SCs / points?

VA number is in the booking but it does not carry through when you try to do online checkin. In fact multiple bugs - loses phone numbers, etc.
