So last week I flew business from MEL - LHR with stopover in Doha. I am QR Platinum and Velocity Platinum too, but used my Velocity number in the booking. Doha layover was the usual 3 hours. Booked on a QAR flight number as Virgin were not showing very many options at all. It was booked about a month prior to travel
Checking points in Velocity and I see the following:
Mel - Doha - nothing has come in yet one week later and I know they have two weeks so interesting to see when these land.
Doha - LHR, the shorter leg, I received 4,860 points and 120 status credits. I find it amusing that I get a decent number of status credits but so little points - to the extent that I see a trip I made in October, from MEL-BNE in economy class awarded me 4,104 points. A two hour economy class ticket domestic nets me almost as many points as a 6 hour business class trip international.
This just seems unusual as when I did these level of trips i the past with Qantas the number of points would be substantially higher. Or it is me and the new world?
