I see a few people are getting emails saying their status match was rejected due to insufficient documentation and asked to reapply, has there been a successful case of a status match yet? I have emailed them on Monday for the status match and haven't heard anything yet.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall at Qantas HQ when they discuss this!

What in it for them?

They get to deliver benefits (and costs) in their premium lounges to the Virgin refugees gifted their top tier status while their One World “partner” gets the international business sectors. Qantas pick up some domestic flights, maybe - which they probably would have got anyway as Virgin restructures after the buyout

The joys of Airline alliance programmes

Maybe QF should do a status match with VA flyers, at least QF can reap the benefit instead of QR, either way QF will have to front up the cost anyway! (Ok, maybe there's some self interest in this as well... :D)

I think only a very small number of VA FF's will have heard about this offer and it only ran for a few days.

Imagine if a big portion of VA FF's were matched by QR, QF would have no lounge space etc.

Also, why would QF do it? Unfortunately there may be no choice in the Aus domestic market for some time, so we would be flying with them anyway. OTOH good move by QR to pickup some high spending customers.

I sent screenshots but was advised today they need a statement with my name and membership number showing (which Velocity doesn't provide) and a photocopy of my valid FF card (which I don't have because I only requalified 2 weeks ago). I've got until June 20 to provide them at least. Might have to request a statement.

I am not 100% sure but I think for economy status travellers the airline of the status holder pays the lounge operator a fee - so at least this way QF will make money on lounge fees while not paying for any frequent flyer points to QR because QR doesn’t issue any for domestic only. :p

It has been in Executive Traveller and Loyalty Lobby as well.
  • So a bunch more from those two.

I received the email tonight asking for my QMiles number, VA card image, and latest VA statement. All of which I emailed to them in the initial request! Maybe they are having issues with attachments?
I re-submitted and stated that the Feb and Mar VA statements are the latest available. Will see how I go.

Can I ask which email address people have been corresponding with them on? I raised a support ticket with them as the promotion page said it had ended, yet the terms and conditions had the end date as tomorrow.

Just when you thought your Virgin status might not be worth much these days, along comes QR with a like for like status match! That means anyone with VA Platinum would receive QR Platinum which means Oneworld Emerald which means Salt and Pepper Squid (among other benefits) :)

Some key points:
- This offer is applicable to top tier members of Emirates, Etihad, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, Turkish Airlines, and Virgin Australia.
- Campaign Period: 14 May 2020 – 20 May 2020.

Our borders may not be open for a while yet, but this should offer some Oneworld status for at least sometime next year.

2 days left folks. Get in quick smart.
Did you get a response from Qatar? They replied asking for same document I sent earlier via email. Virin Australia doesn't issue statements.

I was not the original poster but I think he's referring to the VA statements you receive via email, you should have received one around 13th of March for your March statement.

Although due to the administration, I haven't see any statement being sent after March......

Not yet. I didn’t get around to sending them my details until later that night. I originally planned to send them all info on the 20th to extend the status window by a few days but then thought better of it and guessed that they may close it early if it got out of hand. Whaddya know, it did. Within 2-3 hours Pointhacks and Ausbt picked it up from here, and then all the bloggers on BoardingArea and LoyaltyLobby got a hold of it from there.

In the meantime, plenty of others have since had correspondence so we can look to them for guidance.

I sent screenshots but was advised today they need a statement with my name and membership number showing (which Velocity doesn't provide) and a photocopy of my valid FF card (which I don't have because I only requalified 2 weeks ago). Glad to see that they are persevering, albeit asking for the same documentation again. I expect that they will ask me to resend activity statements as the original screenshots I took did not include my name and membership number. I just sent an extended activity statement which included 4 months worth zoomed out in my Internet browser which I captured into MS Paint, cropped and sent ala naturale.

Curious to note that they are effectively extending the status window by 1 month if you choose to delay sending them your outstanding documentation until June 19th. Not without risk though.

A few mins later I got a reply saying they couldn't read my statements. I found the two most recent ones I have received (Feb and March) and uploaded them as PDF's.

How did you get statements? QR asked me to send mine in showing my name/status/FF number, but I don't get them.

I do get them via email, they're titled e.g. "Your February Statement is here " I just previously took no notice of them so hadn't realised I had them.
